Well it happened. I got the dreaded “refund” email and my PalPal account was refunded the full amount for the fun Hot Wheels cars I had been hoping I bought this morning. 🙁
This is the email that I got:
Dear Customer,
Last night and this morning we experienced a technical error that caused many items to show incorrect pricing. We are working to quickly resolve the issue. Unfortunately, given the wide discrepancy in pricing, we have canceled your order.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and will be sending you an email with a $10 e-gift card (one per customer) within the next 5 days. We appreciate your business and look forward to you visiting walmart.com again soon.

I was figuring this was going to happen and am not surprised. There was part of me holding out and hoping I got lucky. But that is all that it was for those that did get to pick up the deals this morning. Just luck!
The best way to look at it is that you are going to bed $10 richer then you woke up this morning. They are refunding all your money and you get a $10 eGift Card you were not expecting. It was a technical error and they did loose a lot of money on items today + the $10 cards. Congrats to those who got items, and congrats on the gift cards to everyone else!

I went to pick up my dragon and I was told that all stores where told to cancel ALL orders that were placed today for store pickup. I had received that “Your order is ready for pickup” email and drove over to get mine. They had it in stock but said they were told not to honor any orders

mine was for the wii disney infinity and they said i can reorder it if i can get it from another store cause the one i chose didnt have it….

Wow. You are taking it much better than I am. It was Walmart’s mistake and they should have honored their orders. And they certainly should not have waited 10 hours to send the cancellation emails. Not happy with Walmart! (but Tiffany is ok. 😉 )

they waited 10 hours cause thousands if you were trying to pull a fast one on them & run them out of stock! they had try & fix it before contacting anyone! You knew it was wrong & ur just honestly mad cause u werent one of the lucky ones to get the item for cheap get over it stop blaming Walmart for your stupidity!!!

I think that is a little overboard on the reaction. They advertised a pre-black Friday sale that was supposed to be “HUGE” also you are telling me that if you saw a sign in a store where an item was discounted 75% you would just walk by?? I don’t think so.

that was not a pre black friday sale trust me aint no way a $400 power wheel is gonna be marked down to $30 get real & being instore seeing a 75% off sign would be more realistic & correct so no i wouldnt walk away i would ask is tbis correct cause im not selfish or greedy im better than that online you all new it was wrong but you were too damn selfish to care!!!

Wow! You are rude! I am most definitely NOT stupid. And I wasn’t trying to run anything out of stock. I bought one item, an exercise bike, and it was 65% off. I have bought many, many things at Walmart at 65% off or more. I hope you are just having a bad day and are not always this cranky.

I think they did the right thing. You can’t expect them to take a $500+ loss on some items. It seems they honored the orders for those who picked up their items in stores early, and sent a “regrets” e-mail to the rest with a $10 gift card.
That’s good of them. No one is “entitled” to anything, and they did what is the most customer friendly.
After all, can anyone *really* expect that good of a deal when it was clearly an error?

exactly some people is just down right greedy & want everything to be just handed over to them they new what they were trying to do was wrong but still wanna push the issue get over & stop being cheap u want the item pay for it full price or take the $10 & shut up!!!!

AWE MAN….. yes it was a glitch — but stores do “HUGE” sales and 75% off during black friday- so why not any other time? can’t believe the harshness of reply’s — at first i thought it was dear hubby — until i read the name!!!! be careful and do not delete your e card!! mine got deleted that i got from the Houston Chronicle deal 🙁 not sure how pages in my email got checked for deletion — and then “trash” was cleared out– took me a few days to figure out that it happened– UGH!! thank you for all that you do in keeping us informed of great deals!

I didn’t try to order anything yesterday, but I will say that Wal-mart handled this a lot better than K-mart when they had a glitch. There was one night when K-mart had a lot of summer clearance for $.49. K-mart sent out cancellation e-mails 2 days later, saying things were out of stock when it was actually a glitch.

That was nice of walmart to send the egift card! If some people want to call it selfish and greedy go ahead! I’ve never met one perfect person in my life anyways! It was a great deal and worth a shot! No one died, and Walmart isn’t closing! so rude comments are useless at this point! 🙂
