Harry and his wife Ann after hurricane Katrina.
Going around the web, is an obituary that was written about the man above Harry Stamps, by his daughter Amanda. I must have read it 6 times today. I cried each time.
Her love for her Dad is apparent in the way that she wrote about him, and was able to articulate it so well. The thing that I loved the most is that I really knew who he was when I was done reading, and I REALLY liked him!
“He despised phonies, his 1969 Volvo (which he also loved), know-it-all Yankees, Southerners who used the words “veranda” and “porte cochere” to put on airs, eating grape leaves, Law and Order (all franchises), cats, and Martha Stewart. In reverse order. He particularly hated Day Light Saving Time, which he referred to as The Devil’s Time. It is not lost on his family that he died the very day that he would have had to spring his clock forward. This can only be viewed as his final protest.”
I think we all know someone like Harry. I only hope that my kids will be able to write an obituary like this for me! Go HERE to read it.
