This has long been a fun snack/dinner for my kids camping and after school. You can see my Taco Salad recipe HERE for a bigger dish with catalina dressing. Making this for groups, camping or teens is an awesome way to feed a crowd easily. First brown some ground beef with taco seasoning. I often have this on hand frozen in my freezer anyway. Next cut up or pull out your toppings, which can include the following:
- Onions
- Cheese
- Sour Cream
- Salsa
- Lettuce
- Tomatos
Now find a kid who will gladly demonstrate how to eat this with perfection! Lucky me I had one walk in the door from school and he was STARVING! Take the bag and break up the chips a bit. Open the bag. Recipes, new deals on grocery, and supermarket items of the online shopping ads can be even better. Add toppings and meat. Enjoy!

We call these “Walking Tacos.” These are a huge hit at football games and after school events. Doritos are the BEST!

I like that name. They had chili frito supremes ( same concept but with chili instead of taco meat) at the little league park when I was a kid. Thanks for the memory.

Easier to eat when you cut bag down the side!!
We used to do this as Frito Pies – Frito’s, chili and cheese as a fund raiser after church when I was little.
Love the Doritos tacos this way.
You can do nachos in the bag as well.

Awesome recipe and a favorite at my house. A hint to make them a little easier to eat is to crush the chips just a little before opening and then slit the bag on the side instead of the top. Happy Fourth!

Or you could simply fold the top of the bag down to make it easier to eat.

Where did you find the multi-pack of chips? My grocery store only has packs with a variety of different kinds.
Tiffany Ivanovsky says
Mine does have the Doritos all by themselves, but I got the very large box at Sams Club

These are awesome! Love it.

How do you warm them up camping? Without making dishes
Jessica says
Really, the only thing you’d need to warm is the meat. I’d say, make the meat ahead of time, package it however you prefer to get it to the campsite and when you’re there, just make a foil pack. Throw it on the grill or in the coals and keep an eye on it until it’s warm enough for you.

These are great! We call them walking tacos also. I make them for my family with ground turkey burger & we use Tostitos Scoops. They are so yummy!!!

this is a play on a street food they serve in Mexico…. i thought thats what you were showing when i seen this but yours is a bit different.. but still sounds so good… i guess you could use any toppings you like huh…

Is nobody concerned about the effects of putting hot meat into a plastic bag then eating it? Chemicals? I could be wrong but this seems like a red flag for me…
Dawn says
Dorito bags are foil lined. I would think that helps. Besides, it’s not something you would be doing all the time. The thing about heating up in plastic is; 1-it causes harm when you are doing it often. 2- you actually heat up the food in the plastic. Here you are putting warm food into it…consider, even if the meat is very hot…it will cool some right away once you put it in with the room temp. chips and cool toppings. I have never had a taco that is extremely hot! So, consider, have you never put a warm dish into a plastic bowl? No biggy as long as it is eaten right away or isn’t heated up in that dish! We really need not go overboard with the whole plastic thing! Generations of people have been using it with no adverse effects.
Steve Cooper says
you can have them anywhere.
