I want to thank each of you for entering the Kroger $150 gift card giveaway last week. Trisha ( the winner) and I had a chance to go shopping today at Kroger and get her free turkey with a $150 purchase. She is a super busy Mom of 2 small kids and a L&D nurse. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

I love that a nurse won this. Someone who has a very high paying job while people like me who support a family of 4 on 27K a year b/c my husband os over qualified for an $8.00 a hr job cannot afford to feed our family and rich people keep getting rich and getting breaks! Yippy. Enjoy while we go with out.

I think this is the first time a nurse has ever been called rich! Nurses work very hard and are on their feet for long hours. Congratulations to her for the win! I hope she’s off this Thanksgiving and can spend it eating her free meal with her family!
Michelle says
Negative Nancy, try being thankful for what you have and not dwell on what you don’t have. Not all nurses have really high paying jobs and we have to go through a lot in school and on the job. If you want one of these “high paying” jobs go to school and work for one like we did. This thanksgiving try to be thankful you were blessed with children and a husband who CAN work. I hope he can find a better paying job and you can find a better outlook.

Congrats to her! This is definately the time to be THANKFUL ๐ Thanks for all you do Tiffany!

Wow lack of compassion. This saddens me. What goes around comes around.

If you only personally knew the winner, I know you would not feel that way. As nurses, we gladly care for patients every day on Goverment assistance that are wearing jewelry larger than ours or driving Hummers. There are SO many people that work the system to get free handouts while we bust our backs to save lives and put food on our tables. Trisha is an excellent nurse that also has some unfortunate bills to pay that you know nothing about, and this is one way she helps to pay them off. She also has donated her share of free items in her stockpile to others in need, thanks to Tiffany’s website. I’m sorry that you make barely enough to provide for your family. I’m proud that you are doing everything you can to help your family. However, before casting stones, you may want to know the other person’s story. Nurses are not rich by any means, contrary to popular belief.

Congrats to her. She works hard. Nurses deserve a break too! Have a Happy Thanksgiving to all and be thankful for what you DO have!

Congratulations to Ms. Trish. Sorry to Bitter and Blown away. If you were actual true followers and friends to this site you would have seen Tiffany’s comment that she does NOT pick the winner when she has raffles/give aways. Also, the gift card came from Kroger and they were kind enough to include an additional $50 gift card to a reader who was not in the greater Houston area.
Times are hard for everyone right now and it might seem like you may not have much to be grateful for. Due to the current economy there are people out there who have it worse than you; people who have lost their homes in foreclosure or who have absolutely nothing in their cupboards and may have to go to a food bank or do without.
To someone really down and out they would probably be thankful and grateful for an $8 hr an hour job. I was out of work and took a pay cut from mid $50k down to $20k with the hope of eventually moving up in the company. It is less than what unemployment pays but I can say that I took a job rather than be on the dole.
We are celebrating at home with our sons and friends. I hope and pray that you have family and/or friends who will reach out to you and share their Thanksgiving with you.

Gosh – I had to read that snarky complaint twice to make sure she wasn’t joking! Happy Thanksgiving to all who visit Tiffany’s blog!!!

Sounds to me that “bitter” is trying to make a some kind of political statement and is looking for a pulpit..rich blah blah..you don’t deserve it because I think you’re rich blah blah. Give me the gift card instead blah blah…The rich shouldn’t be able to make any more money because they are rich blah blah…
Wrong forum, bitter.

CONGRATULATIONS TRISHA!! You are a fantastic “couponer!” I’m so glad you won!! Have lots I could say to “bitter” but will refrain … HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!

Wow! Way to reward Tiffany for how hard she works for all of us. Trisha, you go girl! Glad you were the RANDOMLY chosen winner. We all needed a little help or we wouldn’t be working so hard to save money. I was disappointed I didn’t win, but am not hateful & bitter about it. I am thrilled a nurse won. God knows our hearts & made sure the right person won. Being a retired nurse who worked my butt off on night shift for years, I can assure little miss bitter that she is wrong about nurses being rich. We work ourselves to the bone to care for everyone who needs us, even if they are to self centered to appreciate it. Tiffany, we appreciate your efforts to make all of our lives better thru helping ourselves & not blaming others.

Congrats to Trisha and her family om winning the gift card / shopping trip:) After being in the hospital for over a month, I can attest to the fact there are many nurses who are underpaid and overworked. I had some very wonderful nurses who went out of their way to brighten my day. So three cheers to the nurses of this world!

WOW…… Bitter, what’s wrong with you?? I am very sorry for your situation, but being SO negitive is not good for you. Why would you even post something like that? You are not the only person that has problems, it is just MOST people look to the bright side!! Congrats Trisha!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Emily says
Congratulations to Trisha ๐ I’ll bet it was fun shopping with Tiffany! I, too, am a L&D nurse – by no means are we “overpaid” or “rich”. Everyone’s situation is different, and if we are all following blogs like Tiffany’s, then each of us has a need to save $$. I appreciate the tips and coupon matchups.

Congrats Trisha! I am so envious of you ๐ I am so glad someone like you won. I can’t tell you the amount of times I have been hospitalized and the nurses, not the doctors are the ones that save the most lives. I have luckily always been shown a lot of compassion from nurses. There were moments I was in my darkest hours and it was a nurse who got me through it. Think about the children you have had…. do you know how many times a nurse delivers babies because a doctor isn’t on time? Look who cares for those babies. Nurses work hard and don’t get holidays off usually to spend with their families. I hope the next time you go to the hospital and need care a nurse is kind to you, because as they say, Karma follows those it needs to. I guess Tiffany needs to “rig” it next time and pick someone who is having a pity party. You never said if your husband was working. You just said he is overqualified for an $8 an hour job. $8 is better than no dollars. I hope you can find something to be thankful for this year. If you are really that bad off there are plenty of churches that hand out Thanksgiving dinners and have fun events for the kids. BTW it’s the what you consider “rich” people (like Trisha is your saying) that are being taxed the hardest. This year I am thankful that I have saved tons of money thanks to Tiffany!! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Congrats Trisha!!
Thank you Tiffany for doing what you do! I love your blog! I am so thankful to have found it. You have helped me save a bunch of money for my family ๐
Here is a great quote “You can’t live a positive life with a negative mind”.

Congrats Trisha!!!!
Tiffany – did you ever post her receipt or a list of everything she was able to buy for the $150, Id love to see what kind of haul you two made. Thanks for everything you do!!!
Trisha says
Dear bitter and blown away,
Your comments about me blew me away and made me speechless. Why, you ask? Because I am a very giving, compassionate, thoughtful and honest person. Was I the most needy of all the people who entered the contest, probably not. However, you do not know me or any situations or hard times that I am going through. I find it very disturbing that you would judge me. This was a random drawing. I can only imagine how you made Tiffany feel by the comments you have made. Tiffany and Paul help us all tremendously with their matchups. You of course one of them.
Being a labor and delivery nurse makes me thankful everyday for my healthy children. Please find a way to be thankful for yours. Be happy that you have children and didn’t have to go through some of the awful neonatal deaths that I have seen. Your children are so innocent and I pray that you find a way to build them up and be happy regardless of your hard financial situation.
I am so terribly sorry for the awful situation you are in. I will pray for you and your family for better times. Also, KSBJ has the giving tree that helps family in need for Christmas. If you would like to reply I would love to call in for you and put your family on the list for help.
Sincerely,
Trisha
