Wow, this is an interesting article about Walgreens getting sued by the Missouri Attorney General for allegedly charging customers more than the prices displayed on the shelves…. I know that has happened to me!
“Investigators visited eight locations over two months, the AG’s office says. They purchased 205 products, and found 43 price discrepancies. That means they were overcharged 21 percent of the time.
There is “a pattern of advertising lower prices on display tags, but charging higher prices at the checkout,” the office says. Even when the Walgreens rewards card, which offers savings on some items, was used, prices didn’t always match what was advertised. Sale display tags were also left up past the expiration date, investigators found.”

I was shopping at Walgreens yesterday and they in the ad it says buy 1 Nature’s Bounty supplement get the 2nd one for $3. I bought two fish oil for 11.99 so it should have been one priced at 11.99 and one priced at 3.00, instead it rings up both priced at 7.50, very confusing when trying to keep track of what they are charging. If I did not have a $2 off coupon for one Nature’s Bounty I would have put it back.
I also found out from the cashier that if you are going to earn points in your current transaction do not use any points to pay for that purchase. If you use points in that purchase you will not gain any points.
I found out the hard way when I tried to do two transactions. In the first one I used current points I already had from previous shopping and then roll the first transaction points into the second transaction. When the second transaction came up I didn’t have any points when in fact I should have had another 6000.

When something is marked one price in the store, the cashier should change the price to reflect it. I would of made them do this over again!
If you are missing points- call the number on the Balance Rewards card and they will give them to you. Just save the receipt. I know its all a pain. Walgreens is obligated to do this and don’t let anyone tell you different. The managers may state something else but you just tell them where its at! The next time tell them you want the name of the store manager as you will be filing a complaint. I promise the matter will be fixed immediately.

I know the way your supplement rang up was confusing and it did result in your being charged an extra penny, but it’s really better for couponers for the register to handle it this way. If you had used two $4 coupons, for example, you would have gotten full credit; however, if it had rung up as $11.99 for one, and $3 for the other, one coupon would have been adjusted down to $3, resulting in your having to pay an extra dollar. This has worked in my favor more than once.
It is true that you cannot earn Balance Rewards points in a transaction in which you use points to pay. That is clearly stated in the Balance Rewards policy. The Balance Rewards program is designed to increase Walgreens sales. If you were allowed to roll them, the program would not achieve its goal.

I stopped shopping at Walgreens a couple of years ago. They always gave me a hard time using coupons, pricing was wrong and it was hard to get the rewards dollars. I don’t even look at their ad, I just go to CVS.

Food Lion is another one that does this, and I have problems with all the time especially on the b1 g1 free but they always have excuses, I think they need to investigate them too

Walgreens probably is the worst about not having correct pricing BUT, for me at least, HEB has been the second worst store making errors on my receipts. I love HEB but you really have to watch your receipts – I’ve found countless errors, always in their favor, of course.
