I went to a bunch of different Walgreens today, according to the cashiers the same person cleared the shelves of the Clean & Clear body wash at each one. Hopefully that is a new couponer who will realize that deals come around again, next week there will be another deal on body wash. On Paul’s site some people are reporting have luck price matching that at Walmart and using the coupon, getting it free there. But that is going to depend on your cashier and it isn’t going to happen if that is the only thing you are purchasing in your transaction.
Also, my stores have not restocked on the razors, so if you are out look for more later in the week. I did get a rain check on the body wash so I can go back at another time and get it then.
Transaction #1
2 Lays Chips $1.99
3 Pampers Diapers $9
1 Lays Dip $1.99
2 Reach Toothbrush Packs $3
2 Nexcare Bandaids $2.99
Coupons Used:
2 $2 Reach Catalina’s from last week
2 Nexcare $0.55/1 coupon from the 4/3 or 5/1 SmartSource insert
3 Pampers $1.50/1 coupon from the 5/1 P&G insert
– $6 from the Infant Care Book for the Pampers
– $5 Pampers catalina (for purchasing over $25 in Pampers in a previous transaction)
-$5 RR from the Gillette Razor last week
Total: $18.95
Got back: $3 RR for Pampers, $2 RR for Reach, + Mail in rebate on the Nexcare, and $5 Pampers catalina.
Transaction #2
4 Rold Gold Pretzels $1.99
Used 2 $2/2 coupon from the 5/1 Moments to Save insert
Use $3 RR from previous purchase
Total: $.96
My second transaction got completely messed up, I was expecting to use a filler to be able to use the RR. The pretzels were ringing up at regular price $2.99 although they were in the ad for $1.99 so by the time we got that straightened out my total was $.96.
Under $20 for 3 packs of diapers, 6 bags of snacks 4 toothbrushes, bandaids and dip was pretty good I thought! Plus, I have RR, a MIR and $5 off Pampers for next week!

I live where you do and I had to get the Tylonel Precise rainchecks from Walgreens. I was able to get 2 carefree pantyliner packages and 2 mitchum deodorants for 1.98. I was bummed though because I wanted the free Precise heating pads ( on sale for 4.99 with the 5.00 off coupon from 5/8 ss) but I will have to try later on this week. Thanks for sharing.
Ileana says
I am surprised that they let you do two transactions. My Walgreen’s cashiers in this part of town are just not very friendly. They do not let you do more than one transaction. Today, they would not let me do the Clean and Clear body wash alleging that they were already BOGO and you cannot use a BOGO coupon. Walked out of the store totally aggravated. The cashier made me feel as if I was stealing the body wash!
Tiffany says
CALL CORPORATE!!!! If you don’t they will never change acting that way!!! There is nothing wrong with doing more than 1 transaction! I am so sorry they acted that way!

What is the infant care book for pampers?
Tiffany says
It is a coupon book they put out, they are probably gone now, but mine keeps them behind the counter. That’s what I had to do today, just ask if there is one!
Gillian says
I had to resort to buying one on e-bay, but since you are supposed to be able to use them over and over then it should easily pay off in the end. Our stors act like they have no idea what I am talking about, another site said to just give them the code 5021 or something and that would work, yeah NO IT DOESNT! If you find a person who will work with you on your coupons there find their schedule and always shop when they work!!!
Joy says
Be careful…my Walgreens makes me rip out the coupons from the monthly coupon books. They say all coupons, including store coupons, must be surrendered at the time of purchase.
Lina says
I got the sundays papers today and I don’t have any carefree pantyliners in it. Am I confused or is it just regional. I need help.
Hilda says
I’ve been told they do not do rainchecks have asked different cashiers.
Tiffany says
That’s weird. Mine always does rain checks…
J says
My Walgreens was also all out of Clean and Clear body wash, which frustrated me because I woke up early this morning to grab certain items at RiteAid and Walgreens before they were gone. The store manager said that one person alone came in and wiped them out of the body wash. How rude! Couponing etiquette, people!
Sonja says
I totally agree with etiquette, but I notice that all the great deals are always gone fast! I am frustrated that the stores don’t stock up accordingly. The rain checks help, but the store manager told me that the RR don’t carry over onto the rain checks. That’s annoying!

I was told by a Walmart store manager ( Texas City) that they won’t price match and use a coupon on the same item that its either one or the other. She says she is a couponer herself but that the register will not take a coupon on an item that has been price matched??? I had an issue at HEB today where an online coupon totally legit would not scan and they were refusing to take my coupon because they say that if the register doesn’t take it they are not allowed to manually enter it and even the manager said that, I pulled my coupon policy and showed where it states that they take printed coupons as long as it has a barcode and it has an expiration date, she said that for this time only out of courtesy they would take it! My husband was with me at the moment ( I feel better with him by me when situations like this happen..) he will be calling corporate about this issue because that means I won’t be able to use any of my printed coupons at HEB because for some reason the register prompts the cashier…
Tiffany says
At Walmart, I have not had that problem. I price match and use a coupon at the 3 stores in my area. It doesn’t say in the coupon policy that they wont.
Emily says
I have price matched and used coupons before at WalMart as well. That’s strange that yours won’t do it.
Gina says
If a member of management has told you this call the district office. I used to be a co-manager for Wal-Mart for many years and you won’t believe how many dept. managers on up seem to want to make up their own policy. Let the member of management know that you will take it up with their district office and ask them to provide you with the phone number. A lot of times they will change their tune if not call you will get results.
Jerusha says
Barbara,
I have had the same issue with HEB at FM2920 and a couple blocked west of I-45. The assistant manager tried to tell me that it is their store policy. I asked to see the policy for future reference, she could not find it, and had to move me over to another lane and continue the transaction on a different register to force the coupons through. As that was my 2nd or 3rd problem with that store, I no longer go there and visit HEB in the Woodlands Marketplace, or the HEB on corner of I-45 and Rayford/Sawdust, instead. Never have a problem, and their cashiers are friendly and willing to help me figure out their coupon policy and the codes on their yellow coupons.
jolene says
I went to walgreens too! Keeping in mind this was my first time couponing at Walgreens.
I don’t live where you do ofcourse but I was really happy because I got my free carefree liners and I snagged the last available Percise Heat Patch!
I wasn’t able to get the right Clean and Clear coupons so I skipped those (instead got a deal on my 2.00 off coupon @ Wal-mart and got cleanser for 1.67)
The cashier had to explain to me about fillers though( guess I missed that tip) so with my filler of a reeses pb cup, i paid a total of 88 cents! Was very pleased with myself! Had to share 🙂
Patti says
I also went to three Walgreens in The Woodlands and no C&C Body Wash. Was told someone got them all and as a result my store would only give me a raincheck to come back and get 2. Thus being doing it one time. I have coupons to do it 4 times for a total of 8. But she said after that lady came in the manager said they were not to issue rainchecks for more than 1 time for a total of 2.
Tiffany says
That is what I ran into.
Ginger Fray says
Tiffany, I am glad that you addressed the coupon ettiquette in regards to wiping out the shelves. I am basically giving up going to Walgreens and CVS stores in our immediate area because of the same bandit. Please do a blog entry about Ettiquett 101 as refresher. I know that you are getting more and more couponers on your site and they need to know the right way and the wrong way. So we can all profit from these deals!
Casey says
Well you can thank the show Extreme Couponing for your trouble. Maybe some of these noobs will get bored once the show stops airing weekly. Although I expect some stores will drastically change coupon policies before that happens. Thanks TLC for potentially
ruining it for everyone.
Amber Hooks says
The manager at the Walgreens in Huntsville refused to do the Clean and Clear deal. He didn’t know the coupon policy, but wouldn’t do it even when it was presented. The lady in front of me and I both left very unhappy.
EdLee says
Remind me again please, when using a coupon from the Infant care book along with a Manu, which one do you give the cashier first? Thanks!!!!
June says
I went to three stores yesterday around noon. (Gosling, Alden Bridge and 242) All three stores were cleaned out of the Clean and Clear BW, which is what I was after. BTW – Tiffany, no more of the clearance Pantene shampoo:(
The manager at the Alden Bridge Walgreens (Kuykendahl/Kroger) told me that he was told a group of ladies came in at midnight and cleared the shelves of the Clean and Clear buying 20+ bottles! They left one for me to buy. The manager gave it to me for half price since there was only one. He said they should limit them. The same thing happened last week to the Noxzema razors and Right Guard bodywash. It’s so discouraging! Gas is so expensive. It’s hard to go to several stores to look for these specials even if we have several close together.
Tiffany says
I agree.
Emily says
I hate to even mention the places I use since so far they have had most of what I want. I’m afraid people will read it and go clear the shelves! LOL
Emily says
Did you try the one on Sawdust? That isn’t “too far” from you.
June says
Thanks Emily! It is a little bit more of a drive, but then again I’m spoiled. The Gosling store is only a 2-3 min. drive from my house. LOL When I go to the Sawdust Walmart, I usually drop by there.
Kristen says
Someone cleared the shelf at my Walgreen’s too.. so frustrating! I think there is someone going around my town clearing the shelf of all the good deals/freebies.
ashley says
My newspaper did not have pg coupons this sunday!!! I was really upset because I use the pg coupons a lot!!!
Carrie says
I think the “shelf-clearing” issue is tough at drug stores because many do not stock all that much of any item to begin with. No one can really tell you how much is “rude” to take — if they have four bottles Clean & Clear, should the good couponer take only one pair?
Tiffany says
That is true and they don’t stock every night like a grocery store. I think it is just common sense. What is happening around here though, doesn’t sound like that. A few people are taking all of it at a few stores.
Nicole says
I am close to completely giving up on Walgreens because the one by me has the rudest staff ever!!!!! I went in to purchase the chips/pretzels, as well as the free carefree liner’s. When I went to check out the cashier immediately got sassy as soon as I handed her my coupons she tried telling me that I couldn’t use 2 of the same coupon, I politely explained that yes I could since I in fact was getting 4 bags of snacks, then she made me add on 1 more item sine I was using a RR even though I already would have had to pay the .96 like you did, I added a chapstick because it was right there….UGH!!!
June says
Yes, Carrie, it is a little different because the drug stores don’t stock huge quantities like Walmart. I knew that even when I started shopping there just a few weeks ago. But until this past week and yesterday, I’ve been able to find most of the deals almost any time I’ve gone to Walgreens. I’ve only been couponing for almost two months now. But, I do agree with Tiffany that there is an organized effort to clear the shelves in our area, especially with what the one manager told me. How many people go to the drug store at midnight on Saturday to clear the shelves? I went to the same store several times last week and even tried different stores one after the other and found the same spots empty every time. Some people are definitely going overboard around here and being greedy! I’m tempted to go to Walgreens at midnight on Saturday and just see what they look like:0 But, I probably won’t.
Ella says
I went at 1 am last week. The shelf had just been cleared out by the lady in front of me. I was there with a friend and we were going to get 2 (one for each) but the person left only ONE. Really frustrating. And noone-NOONE needs that much of anything.
Christie says
Who knew couponing could be so much fun! I had a great time with my 11 yr old shopping over the weekend and got some great deals. My fave was a trip to CVS yesterday for 1 gallon milk($2.99 w card + 1 EB), 1 -24 ct bottled water $2.22, 4 – 20 ct carefree pantyliners 0.99(2 with free coupon and 2 with .50 off coupon) and a mitchum deodorant (regular $5.??, on sale for $1.99 minus $1 off coupon for 0.99) Total spent on 7 items….$1.65!!!!! I did use $5.54 EB from the colgate offer last week but I was pretty darn proud of myself!
