i know how Walgreens can be frustrating, and sometimes they like to tell you all kinds of crazy things that it seems like they make up. One of the comments that I get the most is about using 2 coupons together. it seems that some cashiers will say that you can’t regardless of what the coupon policy says.
In this weeks ad, you can plainly see that Walgreens has printed the ad showing you that you CAN use 2 coupons on 1 item. In fact they are saying it is “required” LOL. I plan on hanging onto this ad and keeping it in my binder for a long time just in case I need to pull it out and show them that it is in fact o.k. to use both coupons! Thanks Save The Coupons!
Cottonelle bathroom tissue 12 large rolls, $5.00
use $0.75/1 Cottonelle Bath Tissue, 7/17/2011 SS Insert (some areas got a $0.50/1)
and use $1/1 Cottonelle Toilet Paper, Walgreens August Coupon Book
$3.25 each

As an employee I will tell you why and how it works. First you can only use 1 manufactures coupon per item. Second the WAGS coupons can be stacked with a manufactures coupon because wags do NOT keep or turn in their own coupons. This is why you can use 2 Q on 1 item in this scenario. Hope this helps.

Just the other day, I showed the cashier this when she gave me grief about stacking the Walgreens and manufacturer’s coupons. And she said, “Well, it only works sometimes, on some items, but not always.” Uh…what??

Tiffany,
Does Walmart price match Walgreen’s price AFTER register rewards?
Tiffany says
No they dont, in the policy it says they dont…. now, some cashiers will. So it depends on your store, but they dont have to.
Natashia Foglesong says
But since this is one item and two coupons you still have to have a filler item right?
Tiffany says
No actually you should not have to as the Walgreens coupon will not count that way. Good question! Walgreens is so confusing huh?
staci says
Yes you will. If you read the coupons in the Walgreens monthly coupon books they say that they are MFC. So you will need a filler. However, I have had the store mgr of my Walgreens override it so I didn’t need a filler. If you happen to have a walgreen’s infant cares book you can use a coupon for that book plus a monthly Walgreens coupon and a manufactor coupon all on the same item. I go huggies wipes a week or 2 ago for only $1.50 ($5.99 less $2 off infant cares coupon, less $2 august coupon, less $0.50 newspaper coupon) and I did not need any fillersl; the store manager checked me out.

I tried to do this deal today. First of all, even though I handed in the MFG Q first, the cashier insisted on scanning the Wags Q first, which threw off scanning the rest of my Q’s. The register kept saying I didn’t purchase the product listed, and the cashier even tried to tell me the coupon was only good on the 4-pack. I asked him to read it again, as it said clearly 12 pack also. He got a manager over who just told the cashier to put it through old-style by hand because even typing in the UPC code wouldn’t allow it go to through. The manager *claimed* it was because those are special packages created for Walgreens. *shrug* Whatever. They were friendly about giving me the discount, so I was OK with it.
Only thing is, it threw off the 1 other coupon I used. I bought a 20 ounce Diet Coke and a pack of gum, using a $0.75 off coupon when you buy both (didn’t care that it cost more, my husband is trying to quit smoking and those two items still cost less than a pack of Marlboro). The cashier recognized the coupon as it was from their own tearpad by the sodas up front, but it kept scanning as “item not found.”
Oh well. The manager forced it through too because he saw that I obviously had the right items. I felt bad for the poor cashier who kept having to call the manager. At least my 4yo was well behaved (for once). I know you know how wonderful that is during a shopping trip!

Have had no trouble (thankfully). Last week – Huggies Wipes. $5.99 – $2 WG’s coupon in Aug book, – $2 in WG’s baby book, – .50 mfg coupon = $1.49. The secret is that they need to ring up the mfg’s coupon first.

I had this issue too (item not found after they put through store coupon first). Manager made me add a filler. Didn’t make sense that I had to pay to get the manufacturer’s coupon taken off. I was very frustrated but saved a bundle my next trip handing over manufacturer’s coupons first. AND I went to a different Walgreens.

When I coupon at walgreens, I don’t pull out the store coupons until after they have scanned all of my manu. qs. THEN the wags qs (including the in-ad coupons. This works much better, and I have had very few troubles.
