I want to write up a little bit about Swagbucks again today. I have been using them for almost 5 years now and they basically pay for 1/2 of my Christmas each year.
I use them instead of Google when I am searching on the internet. Since I am on the internet a LOT, I win a lot of Swagbucks, that I then cash in for Amazon gift cards. I do this all year long and end up with about $300 to use at Christmas. Plus, they will give you 70 additional Swagbucks when you sign up and use coupon code MYLITTER70.

I Christmas shop almost year round. If I find a KILLER deal on something that I just can’t pass up in June I will grab it and out it away for December. Starting about now, I really buckle down and start planning.
Last year we spent about $800 TOTAL on all 7 kids and the gifts my my husband and I gave each other. To me this doesn’t seem like very much for that amount of people. I also need to say that my kids got NICE gifts. I really hate cheap toys and toys that just take up space ( we don’t have much) so I prefer less toys and things and more quality.
Out of the $800, only about $350 was cash out of my pocket, the rest was from me cashing in Swagbucks as Amazon gift cards.
These are the things that I think about and pay attention to:
- Make a plan. Know what and how many gifts you are buying.
- Know who you are buying for.
- Start cashing in Swagbucks and other Rewards. (some take a long time to get)
- Set a budget and STICK to it.
- Find a safe place to store gifts where the kids don’t find them.
It is easy when you start far out like this to overbuy! That is why you have to be disciplined, have a list and a budget. In the frenzy of other shoppers in December, panic can set in that you need to keep buying although you have thought you were done. I have felt this way so many times and try really hard to avoid places where I feel like I need to keep buying.

I’m lost I’ve been doing Swagbucks for a 1year and a half and just stop using the search engine because I’m not sure how it works and keep telling myself to discipline myself to only use that search engine. I have looked at several people talk about Swagbucks but still felt confused. From Tiffany’s post I think you turn them in for gift cards and turn around and use those gift cards to buy gifts on Amazon. Is that how you use Swagbucks?
Hi Nadia 🙂 There are so many things you can do on Swagbucks that aren’t related to searching! This page is a great “starter” page https://sites.google.com/site/swagin101/ it helped me learn things I could do. Also if you go to Swagbucks on Facebook, there are so many helpful people there. It’s not just for searching, that’s for sure!
I also had trouble my first year, but I’ve increased by swagbucks this year a ton by doing surveys and remembering to shop through them. I do a lot of online sopping and places I already shopped at offer swagbucks when you go to their site through swagbucks like kohls, target, etc., they have a lot of vendors. Some of the surverys give a ton of points for a small amount of time. I only started a few months ago trying to increase and I’m already at 10,000 points.
Just a word of caution. I’ve used swagbucks for a couple of years but it recently installed a virus (conduit) on my computer. I was able to get rid of the virus but when I reinstalled the toolbar, the virus reappeared. It would also be wise for one to search what type of information Swag Bucks track while you’re using it. The toolbar itself is not a problem, it’s the third party advertisers that can transmit a virus. Look at reviews such as: http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-the-swagbucks-virus/
for more information. Also, after uninstalling the swag tool bar, I noticed my pages loaded much quicker. I loved the bonus money but I’m now afraid to use it. Much suggestion is just to research swag bucks virus and conduit virus before making a decision.
