Julia, remember there’s $21 worth of coupons there. $50 worth of product – $21 in coupons = $29 pay out of pocket. Then you get back a total of $30 worth of GCs ($10 from the $10/$50 purchase coupon + (4)$5 w/ purchase of 5 glade products) = $1 MM.

I just got back from Target and was able to use 2 of the $1/2 Target coupons (it’s one per guest, so if you have someone with you I would think that would qualify?), so with tax it ended up being about a $0.50 MM. My holiday candle collection is now officially restocked. Thanks Tiffany!

I just left my Target in Pleasant Prairie, WI and had the worst experience trying to use my coupons. I followed your scenario with 2 computers exactly. I had all products together and coupons in order. When I handed my cashier the coupons she informed me the 4-(4) Glade coupons I could only use one each because the stated “one coupon per purchase”. I explained I was purchasing 8 candles, etc.. So a manager was called over and sided with cashier, finally a store manager was called and he had no clue so sided with cashier, but as a curtsey to they would honor my transaction this one time. The cashier (after managers left) mumbled under her breath “well they just made her day” I replied “No, you have not made my day or solved the problem and I am now late to pick up my daughter from school.” She then preceded to tell me in a rude tone the I was just just trying to “scam” Target for coupons they will not get reimbursed for. So with that I left and called Corporate. Now I get a gentleman at target ( a nice enough man), but had such a strong accent I could not clearly understand him. I am hoping he understood my situation, but I am not so sure. Anyone else have any cashiers try this with them?

That is really horrible. Call corporate BACK and get someone who understands what is going on and can help you! Let us know what happens!

Sorry to say, but you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who will actually care about your plight at Target. I used to work as the front end shift manager and also at the guest service desk. The general attitude of all of the managers I worked under was that you just have to put up with a customer long enough to get them out of the store with some type of paid merchandise/loyalty card in their hands, and if someone left unhappy there will always be another customer’s money to take their place. Customer service is given nothing but lip service. Several times I watched my managers argue with “guests” for 20 minutes about ridiculous things like returning a pair of shoes after they fell apart when they had clearly only been worn once. This, and unethical treatment of employees, is why I only worked there for 6 months, and why I stepped down as a manager 2 weeks after getting hired. Seriously.

Anyway, your best bet is to call customer service and ask them directly for a manager, or go back in that store and get the number for the district leader. The most you can hope for from either of those is probably some type of coupon for your inconvenience. Other than that, you can choose to take your business elsewhere. :/

I agree, at the store she wont get much help, but calling customer service goes a long Way with Target. In my area we had a horrible store, 3 months of calling customer service between about 5 couponers turned the store around.

I have a $5/$30 home purchase coupon that I received in the mail from them, would this be considered a home purchase and if so could I use it with your scenario?

I do not use Target that often so I am curious do you get the gift cards that day and can you turn around and use them on the next purchase or can they only be used on certain dates.

Tiffany,
I bought 20 of the Glade products, plus several other things that brought my total up to about $70 but the clerk scanned my coupons before scanning the $10/50 purchase. I tried to explain how I thought it was supposed to be scanned. I finally gave up and added a bottle of water and a 50 cent pack of gum to bring my total up to $50 BEFORE taxes and AFTER coupons. Who’s right?

Wanda, there is nothing on the coupon that says it has to be scanned first. Don’t even hand over the other coupons until they have scanned that one. Just give them that one, let them scan it and then hand over the other ones. I wish you could just return all the stuff you bought and start over, but then you are out all the coupons you used :( Call corporate Monday.
