I wanted to give you a heads up that this coming Thursday the 18th, this is the image you might possibly see all day on my site.
On Jan 24th, Congress will vote to pass internet censorship in the Senate, even though the vast majority of Americans are opposed. We need to kill the bill – PIPA in the Senate and SOPA in the House – to protect our rights to free speech, privacy, and prosperity.
Basically all anyone has to do if this is passed is CLAIM that you have copywrited materical on your site and they shut you down without any proof at all. This is dangerous for bloggers, as many of the deals and match-ups are similar including recipes and so on.
I am considering joining thousands of others sites on Thursday in “blacking” out and staying off the internet because I believe that as a website owner and big internet users I need to support this. Rumor has it, that along with Reddit, Mozilla, Twitpic, Facebook is considering as well.
If you need recipes and matchups that day you will still be able to get them, but the first thing you will see is the image above.
What do you think?
tiffany says
Completely agree with you!
Kelli says
I’d be happy to support you in this, Tiffany. Government control of anything in our lives is something we should be very, very leery of. There’s always another motive involved – and it’s far from wanting to protect us citizens.
Heather says
Totally Agree with you Kelli!
Kelly says
Dont congress have anything better to do? This bill is stupid. They need to leave us alone and work on restoring jobs!

I SUPPORT THIS… TY FOR THE POST, I AM SHARING…. WHILE I STILL CAN
EdLee says
Do it!!! You go girl!

Welcome to the land of the “free”. I, being the very opinionated person I am, am constantly pointing out ways in which this country screws people over and trying to get understand those of us who feel we live in the land of the free to realize that we don’t. Sadly, many people are living with their eyes closed. I totally support internet freedom, with the exception of true illegalities of course, and am right behind you with this. Rock on sister! 🙂
Karen H. says
I completely agree! Even if you wanted to completely “black-out” for the entire day, I’m 100% behind you! As a blogger myself, I get a lot of information from other blogs, store sites & informational sites, so this could be VERY disruptive for all small blogs like mine! It may even shut all of the small ones down for good!
Cori says
I think you should do it, and encourage fellow bloggers to as well! A lot of my favorite sites are going blank for the day, but coupon blogs reach a demographic that might not be as attuned to how dangerous SOPA is to all of us. The further the word spreads, the better.
Mary says
I support a blackout, too, Tiffany. Go for it.
Jill says
You definitely have my support. The insane amount of government control these days is disgusting and scary.
Dianne says
I support u as well. As far as u need to take it.
Suzanne says
I definitely will support you in this! This is America, for goodness sake, why does the government think they need to control everything!
Samantha says
Well said!! I support you 100%
Sheri says
Tiffany,
Do it! You have my support! We need to let our voices be heard and we don’t need more government in our lives.
Keli says
You have my support as well! The government has more important things to worry about.
Heather says
Please do! This is just the government “sneaking” in and trying to control what goes on in this Great country.
Anna says
If you visit Craigslist you will see that they are NOT supporting this bill-they have information posted on their main page. They also show you who else DOES NOT support this-it is all major websites. I think I saw that Wikipedia will be shutting down for the day as well. This bill is dangerous.
Nilda Rodriguez says
I’m with you on this. You got my support.
WENDYT says
This is frightening, to say the least. It seems a lot of our freedoms are being taken away. My mother has been telling me this for a long time. Now I understand why she wants to move to another country. People should do whatever they can to show their opposition to this ridiculous bill, including temporarily blacking out sites like this one.
Tiffany says
WE have the MOST freedom here! This is the best country to live in! We just have to protect what we have!
