I will admit that I purchased a purse for $298 once, I won’t say when or where or what it was… but hey, it was 50% off. I still feel sick when I think about it, I am just to cheap to spend money like that even if I had it, I couldn’t spend $24k on a purse!

usually $20 or less. used to work at foley’s and my closet is full of stuff that I got with my employee discount. My 3 favorite things? Red sheath dress 2.99, Jones of NY 2 pc suit 9.99 and red leather jacket 25
Lol, “pre-owned” = USED, even if it was never carried. How much was the original price? If I’m going to waste money, I might as well pay full price for it!

I have to admit I was a Louis Vuitton collector for a while. I think the most I spent on one was around $700 (used), but my husband bought me a few ranging from $900 to $1200. I still have the $1200 one in the original box under my bed, but I’ve since sold all of the other ones. The one I currently carry is a $298 Coach. It’s been my everyday bag for at least 3 years now. The only good thing I can say about buying an expensive bag is that they last. I had one Dooney & Bourke bag I carried as my every day bag for 7 years!
I agree. There are VERY few things I will pay full price for, and a purse is one of them. I’m a huge collector of D&B and Coach, my boyfriend always jokes we could buy a house if I ever sold my entire collection (it takes up all 3 closest in our home!) I still have purses my parents bought me for my sweet 16 (I’m 24) and they last so much longer then anything I’ve got from Target or walmart!
No more than about $40-$50. But typically no more than about $25. Diaper bags are usually my purse of choice/neccessity…but I do love a cute purse. I can’t imagine spending that much on a purse. What is crazy is there is alot of people who will pay that much for it. That would be someone with way too much money, who probably doesn’t use coupons, let alone do their own grocery shopping!
That purse is ugly. Do you still like your expensive purse because I fully intend on buying at least one expensive purse…one day. Is it like a good pricy pair of jeans that fit like a glove, because the cheap pairs never fit as well.
My husband just got back from Korea in January and he bought me 3 purses.. If it were me I would have looked at the price and turned around and walked out.. He bought each one for about $250.. about 10% of what it would cost over here. I try to make all my purses last for forever. The last one that I purchased myself cost about $100. That was before husband and kids came along.
No more than $10. And…I get them at Walmart. I really don’t see the need of buying an extremely expensive purse when it’s going to get dirty, or even worse…it could get stolen. :/
Most I’ve spent on a purse is $60. That was for a Jessica Simpson original.
i would say i used to be crazy like that before i was married spending a lot on shoes and purses ,because hey i had no other priority ,and living in europe designer Brands are the must have ,so have i maxed my credit card to but that stuff ?! Yes i have! Now they are in my closet in their special silk bags collecting dust,and i love it when i find a much cheaper designer bag for even cheaper at Marshalls or TjMaxx. Ahh what we do when we are young:))

I don’t think I have ever spent $20 on any purse. I have a Fossil purse right now, I got it at a consignment shop and paid about $15 for it, 3 years ago. If I paid $100 or more for a purse, I wouldn’t be able to relax and enjoy it. Might have to have an armed guard to keep an eye on it.Do I sound frugal? That is my middle name.
$20 or less… i spent $25 on a big tote type of purse and felt bad about that for a long time. lol
I did get a coach bag as a present from my fiance.. 🙂 but I couldn’t ever buy one for myself…. even though I really wanted one.
and the funny or weird thing is…
since I am new to couponing, I so desperately wanted/needed a coupon binder and he went and bought me one for $13 in Walmart and did not stop complaining about the price for days.. 🙁

I love this post. It make me chuckle. I have a Coach and D&B I spent about $250 each. I got them for my birthday a few years in a row. They are my splurges. What it must be like to have 25K to spend on a purse….
Gah! That is crazy! If you could afford a $24k purse with out cringing, then can you imagine the house that person lives in. If I had $24k as ‘fun’ money to just throw down, then I’d go donate it. I would get so much more out of seeing all the smiling faces I just helped then a purse would ever give me.
I bought my first Coach purse while on a business trip this summer. I spend $140.00. I have never paid that much for a purse before and was a little worried that it was too much. I love it!!! We all deserve to splurge every once in a while.
I always try to spend no more than 20 on a purse but they never last very long. A few years ago I bought a 300 dollar purse from Coach. I justified this kind of spending by saying it was going to last me years. I only had it for 6 months before it was stollen! Now I can’t bring myself to spend that kind of money on a purse anymore. I’ll just stick with my cheap Target purses!

I am a brat when it comes to my purses… I have to have my Coach or D&B. But, I do not buy them myself…I always get them for my Birthday or Anniversary gift from my husband! (and he usually buys me shoes to match! LOL) I would NEVER personally buy or even want as a gift a purse that was that much money!
I stopped buying “expensive” purses when my daughter played softball and I always ended up plopping my purse down on the ground by my chair, lol….
I personally don’t care about what kind of purse I carry but everyone has their “thing” and if an expensive purse is yours, then go for it!

In January my boyfriend bought me a $2300 Louis Vuitton giant purse and the matching $525 little matching heart coin purse. Probably the best gift I’ve ever recieved, well except for the car he got me…
The purse will probably outlive me and it SMELLS SO DELICIOUS. Like brand new leather and I’ve taken it on a bunch of trips to New York and Miami and it’s like brand new. It’s in the Monogram Vernis collection.
I volunteer in a hospital thrift shop and all purses I have purchased have come from there. I was psyched to come across a D&B bag once, bought it and was surprised when the zipper broke. My D&B carrying friends always brag about the repair policy so I mailed it in – only to have it returned… counterfeit! My bad.
i bought a purse from an outlet mall for 10 bucks had it for 4 years its a wonderful purse still in great condition
Tiffany, I’m am still laughing at this post and personally love your sense of humor. The most I spend is $34.99 at Marshalls however I also find that I can get a good deal on bags at Target.
