This is my most very favorite salad in the world. YEP. Strong statement, it really is though! My Grandma made this all the time when I was living with her. She would make it and leave the dressing on the side. Then we would eat the salad for days pouring only what we needed for dressing on our plates, that way the salad stayed good and didn’t get all soggy with the dressing.
When I take it for potlucks ( I suggest doing this and making sure you have the recipe to hand out) I keep the dressing on the side until served and then pour it on. It is always a huge hit and you can make it many different ways.
Broccoli Salad
4 cups broccoli florrets cut small
1 cup green grapes cut in half
1 cup purple grapes cut in half
1 bunch green onions chopped.
8 strips bacon fried and crumbled
1 small package slivered almonds
1 cup celery
Dressing:
1 cup mayo
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
Mix until smooth and consistency of salad dressing. Add to salad when ready to eat.
I have seen people add raisins and cauliflower, but I like it best the way I posted. I also like my ingredients cut up kinda small and not big chunks. Thats it, that easy! make some today!
Have you had this salad before? How do you make it?

Yes, this is a yummy salad. I like to also add sunflower seeds to it!
Is that celery or green grapes?
Oh no!! i forgot to put celery down!! It is celery, I had no cut up the green grapes yet when I took the picture… but forgot to add the celery to the recipe!
Great! I was hoping it was celery, too! Thanks!
Hidden Valley has a new dressing called Hickory Bacon and Onion, what a twist it would make to this salad!
karen, I went to hidden vally site and I couldn’t find the new dressing hickory bacon with onion. Can you tell me where you saw this dressing ? My husband would love this dressing, he loves the ranch. thanks
I love broccoli salad. The one I am used to is: broccoli, bacon, and raisins with dressing. It is so good. Had one at a wedding reception that had almonds instead of raisins. Also very tasty. I don’t think you make this one wrong. Thanks for the dressing recipe.
This is one of my favs too. My family laughs a little at it because I made it nearly every holiday for a while. I make it with broccoli, bacon, raisins, red onions and cashews. YUM YUM YUM. I think this will be making it back on to the party list!
I make this for church potlucks and everyone loves it… i only use purple grapes and purple onions and pecans… this is so much better than the ones with raisins!!!
