Unfortunately the Kroger coupons in the paper today expired today…. weird, I am not sure why they did that. Good thing I get my papers on Saturday so I was able to make two trips yesterday. Each paper had a $10 off a $50 purchase and a $20 off a $100 purchase.
I had 6 papers so there were 12 coupons, since I used only 2 I handed out the other 10 in line. Have you ever done that? Handed out coupons in line? I love doing this, I like seeing peoples reactions. Most people don’t want to take them and think your crazy, but I still offer. Yesterday was fun though because those were such good coupons. The cutest was an elderly couple in line behind me that were SO THRILLED to save $10. They were worried that they couldn’t use the coupon, but when the cashier didn’t bat an eye and took the $10 off they were so excited. That was fun!
Anyway, on this trip I had a $10 off $50. So I got as close to $50 as I could. I was at $55. I could have made my overall total smaller but I didn’t have coupons for the produce, or meat and I needed it so I was happy with my $25.16 total after coupons. I saved 67% and between my Kroger card and coupons I saved $53.88. Had I not used a Kroger card or coupons my total would have been $79.04.

I always try to hand out coupons in line if I know I don't have time to use them. I hate for someone else not to same $$. Also I when I go to CVS Sunday Morning for my load and extra newspapers, I always snatch the coupons and hand out the newspapers. No need to waste and people LOVE getting them for free.

OK!! I'm working on my couponing skills, but you always have so many coupons. Do you actually buy that many Sunday papers? When do you actually sit down and do all of this. These might be stupid questions but I need to know. Do you sit down with your sale paper and your coupons together do you clip the coupons and put them in your binder? then check out the paper while going through the binder? Give a girl some hints, Please.
Oh yeah!
I signed up for the cvs advisor, it a survey system and you get extra bucks when you take a survey. You could earn $5, $10 or $15 extra bucks for each survey.

I just signed up so I haven't had any surveys yet but I'm hopeful.
Thanks

You've actually got me looking at coupons and matching them with ads. If you were a minister, I'd join your church. Very persuasive.
I like to give my coupons out before they expire. I usually choose someone who is either elderly or young with small child(ren). They are so grateful.

Jen,
I will write a better post on Wednesday about this. But for now….
I buy 6 papers a week. Sometimes more. I cut them right away and put them in my binder, well I try and do it right away:) I do most of my CVS and drug store shopping late Saturday night so I can get many of the deals before they are gone. I don't shop on Sunday.I do most of my grocery shopping during the week. I hate grocery stores on the weekends too busy!
I check the adds and browse a few internet sites before I make a big trip to make sure i get certain deals that I want. But mostly I walk throughout the store down each isle matching up to my coupons as I go. The best deals for me usually happen by chance. Thats why i like to have all my coupons with me all the time.
Like this trip I needed bread, the only bread coupon I had was for a free loaf when i bought 2 packages of deli meat. Well I had coupons for the deli meat it required. So that was a good deal. The tortillas were on sale 10 for 10. I had a .55 cent off coupon BUT on the packages were peelies for .75 cents off! I used those instead, .25 cents a package. So I will get a bunch and freeze them.
If I have a free minute, yes, I will sit down and go through the add with my binder. But for me most of it is done in the store.

I often hand out coupons, I call it "Paying it Forward." Kimberly from "Just Frugalicious" handed me a coupon at a Walgreens checkout back in April and I have been "Paying it Forward" ever since. But it didn't occur to me to cut out the extra $10 and $20 coupons to handout. You have opened my eyes and I will do this in the future. I also like the idea about giving away papers after you remove the coupons.
Thanks for this post,
