I love the movie. We got Jeffrey, Our Elf, last year. Any time the kids act out I get him out. It totally freaks them out. I pulled Jefferey out Monday and my oldest spotted him first thing in the morning. Then they went to their grandmas and Jeffrey happens to be over there too. Hint: We have 2 Elfs.

We started that this year too! I told the kids that he just showed up here, but I am not sure how to explain myself if the kids happen to see that you can buy the elf in the store.

How adorable. Your little Andy makes me want another one. I might try this with my kids this year. Maybe it will help the 4 year old. I think my 7 year old will know though. But it’s worth a shot.

My 5 year old is the one who has been the biggest fan, then the 7 and 3 year old, they are Waaayyyy excited about it, they were banging on my door at 5:45 am this morning to say the Elf was gone…. Even our 9 year old might not be sure about it!

We started this a few years ago, my daughter named him Pinocchio. He arrives in the package at the door on Thanksgiving night, right before bed. We get the kids distracted and my husband runs outside, puts it on the front step and rings the doorbell and sneaks back in through the garage. We sit together on the couch, as a family, and read the story. Mom or Dad place him somewhere that night (his magic brings him to life that night after they go to sleep), and the kids understand that they aren’t allowed to touch him, otherwise his magic won’t work, and he can’t fly home every night to tell Santa they were good. He sticks around until Christmas Eve, upon which he flies home with Santa on his sleigh. Santa gives him a mention in his letter he leaves thanking the kids for the milk and cookies and carrots for the reindeer. It is an adorable tradition, and the kids really enjoy looking for him each morning. Sometimes he hides in tricky places, sometimes in silly places.

Chocolate Buddy isn’t far off from our elf, Skippy Blueberry. We started this last year when my twins were 2. 🙂 Our elves must be related!
