I don’t often diet, well I usually don’t on Wednesdays through Sundays. Because on Mondays I always start a new one 🙂 By Tuesday I am sick of it and by Wednesday I quit. But in the past few months I have managed to loose some of the “baby weight” I have been carrying around. How long am I allowed to call it baby weight? But I still have a good 10 more pounds to go. Now I know it sounds stupid and its what people say who are not really trying, but I really just want to be healthy. I know a lot of really skinny people who are not healthy or in shape.
Call me the excuse master, I can make one up on the spot. Sometimes they are valid, new baby, no sleep, another case of mastitis… etc. Sometimes it is just life, I am never going to get enough sleep or have the perfect weather conditions (Houston humidity!) or have enough money to buy the perfect gym membership or the personal trainer. But there are so many things that I can do everyday on my own, IF I DECIDE TO DO THEM! So I am deciding, right now to be healthier, and I want you to hold me accountable!
This means that I have to make it a priority to make time for myself to exercise. I have to go to bed earlier, and get off the computer sooner! No excuses. I have a child in early morning football, after school we have ballet, softball and baseball, homework, tap and tumbling and I work on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I am telling you this because I am going to say I am too busy. But really, I can do it and I need to.
I am going to do a program in the past that I have done called Couch – To 5K. It is a great program for beginner runners, by the end of the 9 weeks you are running/jogging a 5K or 3.2 miles.
Now, I am most motivated by REAL people! Not fitness experts or professional athletes. But by all you Moms who bust your butt to make it work or just do the best you can. Does anyone want to do this with me? You don’t have to do the running program, the only requirement is that you are getting healthier. Lets all motivate each other. Leave a comment and tell us what you have done in the past to make your body BETTER. In fact, I think we should have our own little club, complete with handshake and tattoos!
Are you in?? What can you do in 12 weeks to make yourself healthier? I propose a little giveaway! At the end of twelve weeks I will give away a new pair of workout shoes, an ipod shuffle, and a gift certificate (high dollar) to purchase workout clothes! This is what you need to do. Blog about what you are doing every week or leave me a comment (if you don’t have a blog) on Friday’s when I post the reminder. We can all help and motivate each other, real Women and real life situations!
Good luck, I am excited!
Check this weeks giveaway for a little bit of motivation!

I'm in! I need more energy – I think I've been sleep deprived for about 7 years now. I always feel better when exercising but I still always find excuses. I'm printing out the couch to 5K and taping it up. I also love Pilates and Ben (hubby) and I have been getting up 2-3 times a week for boxing. If I keep at it I plan on buying a little black dress for New Years and going out!
sidenote: I started drinking water every time I felt hungry (in the last two weeks). I have been told this a hundred times but never really do it. The first week I felt horrible – the second week I feel awesome. Hmmm, drinking water really works!

Hey-me too! I would really just like to be healthy and have the pants I took my engagement pictures in fit again. I can't hardly button them. I'm totally bummed too cause they're my favorite pants.
So I'm started this challenge last week. In a nutshell its:
No sugar (you can have 1 soda a day, and 1 cheat a week, like an ice cream, french fries.. but only 1 a week).
No fried foods.
Drink 7-8 glasses of water a day.
Exercise 3+ times a week.
That's it.
I've even joined the group where you weigh in every Friday. Deanna Trammel Minium has done 2 six week challenges and lost 15 pounds. I'm sold!

I found your blog about a month ago but I don't think I've ever left you a comment! But the funny thing is I just started the couch to 5k yesterday, I have about 8 pounds to lose, but like you I just want to be healthy and feel fit and strong. So I'm right there with you girl! Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, I gained 10 pounds during our adoption, I wasn't even pregnant!!! But I ate like I was, and convinced myself I was too busy between doing paperwork and traveling to Russia to get our daughter. So I'm left with only a little less baby weight than I had with my actual pregnancies. The couch to 5k seems like a great plan, I did my first day yesterday.

I just called the tattoo parlor. I'm scheduled for 2:30 today. Mine is going to say "From Blubber Butt to Firm Fanny."
I'll have it tattoed across my butt.

I'm in. I did the couch to 5k a while back and it was so good. I got a few weeks in, felt really great about myself, then shiz happened, I got super depressed and quit. Good times. I am one of those fat girls trapped in a skinny girls' body. I get winded going up the stairs. True story. Here's to being healthy! When do we start?

I would love to be a part of this. I have an 8-month-old baby and life is finally starting to become manageable again. I don't have any real weight loss aspirations (I've lost it all being a nursing mother) but I am way out of shape. I would love to get in shape and eat better.

I'm in too. Hubby and I have started walking AGAIN this week. I don't know if this is considered exercise when you have atleast 2 kids and 1 dog with you.

This is just what I needed! I have been pondering what I can do to keep my stress down as the new school year starts. Exercising and trying to eat healthier are some pretty good ways to accomplish that goal. I WILL find time to do this.

I'm in! I have been using the baby weight excuse for a while, but my baby is 4. I need to lose a lot more than 10 pounds. I have cut out sugar, but haven't started exercising. Maybe I will look at the couch to 5k…

I was just talking to a friend last night, saying I need to stop making excuses, stop talking about it and just do it! I got on the treadmill and jogged for 10 minutes last night and about died. Pathetic, I know. So, I'm joining you, although I have more than 10lbs. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm off to check out that program.

My kids are now both in school (boo hoo) so NO EXCUSES. I am back at the YMCA after I get the kids off to school. Now some morning I have to work and I try to hit the Y after work and before I pick up the kids. My husband just finished the Couch to 5K program last week! I am just not a runner. No desire at all! So it's the Y for me. Preferably the free group classes so I will be motivated.

Hi, I'm new to your site, and I would love to join you all. I started weights & stretching at the beginning of summer, then it got so hot I couldn't sweat it anymore. Now it's cooling down I have no excuse. I do need to seriously get in shape, and I just quit smoking 8/15 but I smoked on and off for 30 years, terrible I know.
I'm not a runner by any means…but apart from stretching, weights I have a ballet dvd I've been meaning to start. I would also like to walk at least 2 times a week, I though it would be nice to walk my #5 & #6 dc to school at least twice a week. I know they'd love it.

I'd love to do it. In fact, my exercise today will be to FIND the couch to 5K program. Tomorrow's exercise will be to bend over at the waist when picking only one thing out of the dryer at a time when doing the laundry. A full load will definitly give me a workout.
