If you have a Kroger RUN to your store!

So I just got back from Kroger! I would have made a video for you all but I had two kids with me one who is having asthma problems and I had to get out of the store in a reasonable amount of time!

Kroger started their Mega event this morning. During this Mega event, when you buy 10 participating items you get $5 automatically taken off your total when you use your Kroger card.

I bought 120 participating Mega items, so before I even used my coupons or Kroger sales prices were taken off they automatically took off $60!

My total before coupons, Kroger card and Mega event was $324.37!

After Kroger card, coupons and Mega event I paid $106.47! For all this!!

If I had not had ANY coupons, just my Kroger card I would have paid $198.74. So even if you don’t have any coupons it is still a great deal right now. But you have no excuse to not have ANY coupons, you can go HERE and see a list of ones you might need and print some!

I didn’t have a list when I went. When I walked in I grabbed a store circular and just started walking slowly down every isle. The Mega event items are marked very easily to read. If I came to a Mega event item, I just flipped through my binder to see if I had that item in coupons. I bought almost everything in 3′s because my store doubles and triples 3 of each coupon. For example the evaporated milk was on sale for $.99, but it was part of the Mega event and when I bought 10 items it dropped the price of the milk to $.49 cents, then I had $.50 off coupons so it made them FREE.

Also, much to my surprise I got back $5 in catalina’s after I checked out! $3.50 from General Mills for the fruit snacks, $1 for the Krustez pancake mix, and $.50 from Dole.

If you have any questions please leave a comment and I can help!

Tiffany,

I just got back as well and it was great mine was 91.00 before everything and went down to 41.00. My freezer is kinda full right now so I hope to empty it some so I can go back for more. Also if I remember correctly the week before the super double event in august was a mega event like this so perhaps its coming up..would be perfect timing for thanksgiving.

I have to ask…and you can email me if you dont want to say on here. But what Kroger are you using. Every time I go to Kroger or Randalls they only double or triple my first coupon of like items. They wont do it on the others and I end up standing there arguing with the cashier and the manager!!!! I would love to go and just get my shopping done without being held up. I am now armed. I have my notebook, coupons, store cards, went on the two sites the other girl mentioned this morning and loaded my cards…going shopping tonight!!!

Today I used the Kroger at Rayford Rd. I normally got to the one on Gosling.
Randalls will only do the one. But Kroger does three.

I was wondering if you have to buy 10 of that specific item or if you can mix and match. I use mainly internet printables, so I haven’t been shopping at my local Kroger since they now only allow 3 internet printables per customer per day. It stinks. I do get the Sunday paper, so might be able to come up with a good selection of coupons, but not in large quantities if I have to buy 10 of that one item. Thank you!!

Sonya- No you don’t, I made that mistake a few years ago and thought I had to… :) Just keep track of how many items you buy and do it in multiples of 10. WOW I can’t believe all the inconsistency between Krogers. That drives me nuts! Mix and Match!

ok, so i am home now. i saved 85%. i bouht 20 items and paid $5.00. i didn’t have any coupons that doubled or tripled so i dont have an outcome for that situation. but i did have some awesome coupons tonight, most were for $2 or $3 each.

HELP…if anyone needs hormell chili w/beans let me know. I will trade you for something. i have a sh** load of them!!!

I went today and my total before savings was 78.45 and I paid 26.76. I’m pretty happy with that! The only thing is that they wouldn’t take my Snuggle coupon for $3 off. They also wouldn’t take 2 coupons for B1G1 which I think they should.

Can someone explain how e-coupons work? I can not load more than one coupon on a card. Do they delete from card after I check out? Am I limited to only one use of an e-coupon. Ex: Chex Mix…I loaded a chex mix coupon to my Kroger card to be used with a manufactuer coupon but I wanted to buy more than one bag. I had plenty of manufacter coupons but was wondering how many times I got credit for the 1 e-coupon. Thank you.

Yvonne,
With e-coupons you can only load one of the same kind of coupon on your card. You can load up to about 30 on your card at a time of different coupons.
Yes, they delete after you use them at the check out.
You could have bought as many chex as you wanted but the e-coupon would have been used and combined with only the first bag. But it doesn’t affect how many you can purchase. For example, if the ecoupon was for .50 and the coupon was for .50 off two. Because the coupon doubled to $1, the first bag of chex had $1 taken off (.50 e coupon and .50 regular coupon) and the second bag had .50 taken off.
Was that confusing? Email me is I didn’t do a good job explaining!

I see that some people are getting mega items at Kroger that I don’t see in my ad. For example, the playtex gloves, surf, and snuggle? Are some things not listed in the ad or are there different ads depending where you are from? Thank you!

P.S. I love your blog.

Impressive! I just got back and got $176 worth for $53.98. Didn’t realize until after I’d left I was only at 37 Mega items…

I have a post here…http://faithfulfinances.blogspot.com/2009/10/why-im-willing-to-drive-30-miles-to.html

Question…if a catalina is printed and the printer is running out of ink (making it a little faded and strange looking) will Kroger still honor it since it was printed there?

Marcy,
There are some deals that are not advertised in the paper. I noticed that when I got there also. Also, I am going to assume that a few item s might be regional.

Amy, I usually try right away to to to customer service and draw their attention to it and ask what they are going to do. They should take it though, I wouldn’t worry too much!
