Thanks to my friend Susan who reminded me of the deals as I was walking in the store!
I used hardly any coupons, I only had $9 in manufacturers coupons. All my saving were store sale deals. Just had to swipe my Kroger card!
Grapes are .99 cents a pound
Goldfish $1.00 a bag limit 10 ( try the Smores kind! Awesome)
Cheese $1.00 a bag limit 10 ( I am going back and getting more to stick in my freezer!)
Apples and Pears are $.99 cents a pound!
Pomegranates are in season and are $2 each. Had to get one!
Juicy Juice was on sale for $1.99 I used a .50 off 2 coupon, doubled to $1.00
Pringles were 4 for $5, I had .50 coupon, doubled to $1.
I did the Pillsbury deal I talked about HERE.
I am really excited about the meat deals. I freeze a very large amount of meat when I can find it on sale. Almost everything that I cook with comes out of my freezer frozen, that I got a good deal on.
I got beautiful New York Strip Steaks for $3.99 a pound.
Pork Chops were only $1.59 a pound.
More chops! My kids love these marinated and then baked in the oven. I just stick them in a ziplock with some oil, soy sauce, garlic and honey for a few hours, then bake at 350 for about 40min.
This was the best deal!! Boneless Pork Loin for only $.99 cents a pound. Limit 2 per purchase with a $10 purchase. I am going back a few times to pick up more of these. I stuck on in the crock pot right now for pulled pork tonight and the other I am going to make a killer Mexican dish that my Sister in law Tonia makes with green chilies served over rice. Tonia can you post the recipe??? Pretty please!
After my Kroger card and $9 in coupons it was $86.65!
You don’t have to have coupons to get a good deal this week at kroger!
** Update, I went back again to get more pork, and steaks to freeze…. I forgot and left them in the car!! I found them the next day when I was pulling my chair out the back for my son’s baseball game! 8 packages of meat RUINED!!

Chili Verde:
This is exactly how my mom gave it to me. I have never used a 3-5 lb pork, mine are usually between 1-3 pds so I only use 1 onion and 1-2 cans of green chili's. I use about 2 tsp of garlic though and I usually skip the searing and make it in the crockpot. About 6 hours on high in a crockpot, 2 1/2-3 hours in a roasting pan, and 1 hour in a pressure cooker.
3-5 lb boneless pork roast
1-3 yellow onions (chopped)
4 cans Ortega chopped green chili's
olive oil
1/4 tsp minced or chopped garlic
(more if you like garlic)
salt and pepper to taste
2 Tbs flour
3/4 cup water
Heat oil in roasting pan and sear meat. Pour 1/2 cup water in bottom of roasting pan. Place in roast, chopped onions, garlic, salt and pepper. Cover pan and bake at 350 degrees 2 hours or until internal temp. reaches 155 (or meat shreds easily with a fork). Let meat set 1/2 hour and then shred. Set aside.
Take 2 Tbs flour and mix with 1/4 cup water thoroughly (no lumps). Add water to drippings and cook over med heat to make gravy. If desired add more water, flour and (if needed) chicken bouillon for more gravy. Salt to taste. Add green chile's and shredded meat. Serve over rice.
My kids like it with soy sauce and rice. The next day we wrap it in burritos with cheese and sour cream. The burritos are excellent when fried in a pan on both sides, more sauce dumped on top and coated in cheese. (not healthy though). Enjoy!

By the way, I found that Smith's (Kroger) puts the beef they cut on Wednesday on sale by Saturday because it turns brown. They package it up and set it out with a coupon "$2 off or $3 off."
I just feel like I have to contribute because my couponing and saving skills exist solely because I go to the store as infrequently as possible.
Speaking of, I used my last package of Betty Crocker cookie mix tonight. I had bought a year's supply last September (with coupons).
I am sad.

It's interesting to see how much less the meat is on sale for in different parts of the country.
Normally, pork roast here is on sale for $1.89 a pound.
But last week, orur Kroger affliate (Smith's) had it for $1.29 a pound, which is unheard of here. I bought 11 roasts.
We like ours several ways; one is a rosemary pork roast with fig sauce:
