Just a word of warning – some of the stylists are very peeved about these freebies. We had my daughter’s hair cut at JC Penney last fall when they did the free back-to-school cuts, and the stylist was so pissed that she had to do free cuts that she butchered my daughter’s hair. The salon manager tried to fix it, but it was so bad there was not much she could do. I demanded the stylist be fired, but I don’t think it happened.
So just a warning – sometimes free is wayyy to expensive. 🙂
to be fair, a lot of moms who came into the salons to get their kids’ free cuts never returned in general, or even considered trying out the stylist themselves after a satisfied kid’s cut. hundreds of stylists lost a lot of money from only taking in the free cuts, when you have to make a certain amount in two weeks to make commission it kind of pisses them off that they can’t reach that goal.
honestly a bang trim has always been free, they’re just trying to advertise it so that you can come in and check out the salon and talk to a stylist, a bang trim takes less time than a kid’s cut, especially if the kid does not want to get their hair cut, even if it’s free.
Just so you know during that free kids haircut month the stylists were only “allowed” 15 minutes per haircut. So yes, they were very rushed and had to take shortcuts to get through the haircut. Not that I am trying to make excuses but you should know how badly jcp treated the stylists during this time. I am sure that stylist was fired because the customer is always right at jcp. I had a coworker get fired because she stopped a woman from stealing some hair products. It apparently was bad customer service to stop someone from stealing.
