O.K. I saw a few other people talking about this one and I didn’t realize they were talking about the deal THIS week! I thought it was coming up next week…
So, at CVS RIGHT NOW you can get 5 of the little bags of Frito chips for free. This is an UNADVERTISED deal. It is not in the ad but you might see signs in your store for it. There is also a limit of 5 on it!
** Deal Idea**
Buy 3 Frito Lay Chips = $1 Ecb (limit 5!)
Buy 15 bags of single serve Frito Lay Chips on sale 3 for $1
Total = $5
Get back a $5 Ecb
Total: 15 bags of FREE chips after ECB
If your store does not have the chips, it seems to be working on the peanuts and sunflower seeds as well.
Has anyone seen the signs for this in their stores?
** UPDATE – My store did not have any of the small bags, they only had the $.99 bags which were not ringing up as 3/$1. Also the seeds and peanuts were $.50 so this might be regional?
Natalie says
If there’s a limit of 5, then how do you buy 15?
Tiffany says
The ECB limit is what is 5. They are $3/1 and you get $1 ECB for each 3. You can do this 5 times and get $5. Sorry, that can be confusing!
Anonymous says
So the ECB will need to be used another time? Not on this transaction correct?
Tiffany says
Yes, and if you have any right now, use it on that transaction so you are less out of pocket. Then use the $5 on another transaction!
Liz says
So the $5 ECB will need to be used on a different transaction, correct?
Tiffany says
Yes, you will get it on the bottom of your receipt.

I am finding all this extreme couponing to be way too time consuming and most of the freebies and great deals are not for the health conscience. I am buying and consuming things that I had pretty much done away with such as chips and candy. The olay bath washes I got at CVS a couple weeks ago have petroleum in them and leave a nasty film on my tub. Most of the buy 1/1free are not that great a deal, and the most frustrating part, the expirations on the Ebucks come up fast. I went to use $7.00 of them and they had just expired. I have only been doing this for about a month, so that was pretty fast. Not sure if this is all really worth ones time.

All my cvs stores take recently expired ecbs no questions asked. There is money to be saved fir everyone but not every deal is for everyone! Pick the deals that work for you. Don’t eat things just because they were free. If you don’t like a product email the company or just return it.

Do you follow any other blogs? There are quite a few out there that list coupon match ups for health food stores. Also, whenever I find a good deal on something I can’t use, I donate it. Kitty litter, donated. Any packaged food and hygiene products can be donated to a shelter. The idea is to save on the things you already use. Toilet paper, toothpaste, deoderant, floss, toothbrushes, etc. I habe lessened my load to offers that only have printable coupons. I still get good deals, and don’t have to organize and go through inserts. I also search coupon databases for the items I actually need in the house. There are so many levels of couponing. All save money to some extent. Do what you’re comfortable with.

Yes, I agree that this can be somewhat time consuming, but once you really get yourself situated you will fall into a routine and it becomes like second nature. It is that initial “OMG” factor that blows your mind, and it does take a good 6-8 weeks (I have found at least) to get a good supply of coupons, a good organizational system (I adopted Tiffany’s and it works SO well), and a good plan, but once you do it will work out. I take one day a week, usually either Sunday or Monday after I get the papers, pulling an all nighter after the kids are asleep and clip all my coupons and get them organized and then the next day I plan what I am doing for the week. It really doesn’t take me long anymore ๐
I personally have gone the route of donating as well. My husband travels for work, I travel for pleasure and other issues, and we stay at home, so most of what we utilize are H&B items, toiletries and such… so what foods we get for less than 1 dollar on some sort of great deal and the toiletries we get for free that we don’t use we donate. ๐ I personally don’t go out of my way to get things we don’t actively use. And the way I look at it is, ANY amount of money saved is money saved… it all adds up. ๐

My old college guy roommate started couponing in Dallas. His wife did first, and then sparked his interest with all the free stuff. He posted all of this on facebook and peaked my interest. I started collecting coupons per his intructions and started shopping. WOW… I became a little over zealous and was buying all kinds of stuff. Still within my budget, but stuff I would never buy. Metal delimna…. am i really saving? A couple of things come to my conclusion. 1. My family supports the womens crisis center here, and I got to donate a ton of usable everyday items (paper plates, soap, shampoo, body wash, razors, diapers, toothbrushes). All of the products were good ones too- not left over cheapies. I know its small, but the look on some of those womens faces, made it worth it. My kids and husband felt good about it too! I guess for my family, the giving outways the time. My husband gives me a budget and i save and give. Thanks Tiffany! You’ve been a true blessing in sharing your talents!

I went to 3 different locations, 2 in the same town 1 in the town i live in (in Georgia) one of the locations in the next town over had them on a rack by the from door and it said 3/$1 so i got 3 and went up there to see if it worked, she told me i could get 6 and told me about the deal, i told her i already knew about it and that i could get up to 5 extra care bucks back! She was excited and surprised she got on the phone and called the manager in the back and he said NO ONLY 6, would NOT let me get the max that the store had advertised, i can complain cause i got 6 free bags, but still i think this is pretty shady!
Brittni says
i meant CANT complain cause i got 6 bags for free
