How to read a manufacturer coupon match-up

On Sunday’s there are anywhere from 2 -5 inserts that you can expect in your Sunday paper. Make sure to check your paper as on Holiday weekends there tends to NOT be any inserts at all. So before you purchase a paper on a Holiday weekend make sure to look in the paper to confirm that there are coupons that weekend.

Typically you can expect the SS or Smart Source and the RP or Red Plum. Every 4th week we will get the P&G, Procter and Gamble additional insert and occasionally we get the GM or General Mills.

To see a preview of what coupons you can expect to find each week you can go HERE. Coupons are regional and not all areas get every coupon. If there are coupons that you did not get in your area and would like to have you can purchase them from a coupon clipping service.

HELLO, I AM CONFUSED ABOUT HOW YOU GET MONEY BACK FROM OVERAGE ON COUPONS. HOW DOES THAT WORK? IF YOU COULD EXPLAIN THAT TO ME IN A STEP BY STEP I WOULD APPRECIATE THAT. I AM A STAY AT HOME MOM AND MY HUSBAND WORKS SO I WOULD LOVE TO DO MY PART BY SAVING THE MONEY HE BRINGS HOME. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME.

An overage actually comes from using a coupon, normally during sale times, or while it’s on clearance, and the coupon is worth more than the product is being sold for.

Ex. Buying Vitamins on clearance for $2, while having a $3 coupon for the product.

My husband has been on disability since last June due to cancer and our resources are dwindling down. I want to try getting the biggest bang for our buck since the medical bills are adding up. How can you do that when in Houston they have discontinued the double and triple coupons at almost all the stores…

I live in Houston, I started couponing April the 11th what I found is that Randalls and Brookshire Brothers still does double and triple coupons. Also you can get some really good deals at CVS and Walgreens without using double and triple.

I have seen that one very helpful trick is when you shop at a store that doubles coupons. I live in Portland, OR and I have been checking policy after policy, and have yet to find a store that does this? I know Safeway puts 4 double coupons in their ads, but that’s it. Is there something I’m missing? Do you know of any stores around me that double, or even triple coupons?

I’m in Beaverton, and this is what I have found. Safeway has the $0.50 “double coupon” coupon in the Tuesday paper, but Albertsons does “Twice the Value” coupons in the Sunday paper roughly every other week. There are always three of them, they are usually on a smaller, shiny, one page ad, and are easy to miss; “maximum value $1.00. Coupons valued at $1.01 or higher are not eligible for doubling. Three double coupons per transaction.” So, if you have a $1 coupon, it doubles to $2, but $1.25 is always $1.25.n Also, they are only good for a few days, not an entire week; and, you can only get them in the paper, they don’t have extras in the stores. :-(
Don’t know what side of Pdx you are on, so this may be a ridiculous commute for you, but Bale’s Thriftway does Triple Coupons every week. They are in the ads scattered all over the stores, at the front, on the checkstands, everywhere. Each Triple Coupon will increase four original coupons up to an additional $1 each, but there’s no maximum on the original coupon. So, a $0.25 coupon would be worth $0.75, $0.50 would be worth $1.50, $0.75 would be worth $1.75, $1 worth $2, but $3 would be worth $4, etc. So…I don’t bother using $1.25 coupons at Albertsons, ever, if I can find the item at Thriftway. Limit 4 coupons per day. But, since they have them all over the store, you can easily use one every single day, which is pretty sweet. They also run lots of sales, and have store coupons in their ads that can stack with the mfr & triple coupons. So, conceivably worth the drive, or at least a pit stop on the way back from the coast. :-) Best of luck to you!

How do you combine coupons? I always see people use 2 coupons for 1 item and get it for next to nothing? Could you please explain this?
