:: LAST CHANCE ::
Paul and I signed up for this same account when they were doing a $50 deal last fall, and we have been really happy with them. We love the mobile app for scanning checks to deposit and all the ATM’s are nice! If you ever find it hard to keep your money for Christmas shopping being used every day, you might want to consider doing a separate account. It’s fast to get started, no fee (not even overdraft), and it’s easy to us.
PLUS, get a $100 bonus when you sign up in the next few days!

It says open an account and get $100 if you make 5 transactions in 45 days. Also if you leave the money in the account on day 50 you will get a bonus of 50 more $50. It doesn’t tell you how much to deposit.
Tiffany says
well dang, let me read the fine print.
Tiffany says
I am still looking…. I am not seeing a minimum? Anyone else see a minimum?
Rebecca says
Normally to open an account is a $100, just not sure about this one.
Tiffany says
That’s what it was for us last time so I’m assuming its the same this time.

I just called Capital One and spoke with Bob – here is what he told me. First, there is no minimum balance that you need in order to open up the account – and there is no minimum balance you need to keep in the account in order to avoid any future “fees” (I asked because some banks will allow a fee free sign up but then if you don’t keep a certain amount of cash in the account – they will charge you a monthly fee). That’s why you can’t find the amount needed to deposit – there isn’t any. You can deposit as much or as little as you want but keep in mind, you might want to make sure you’ve deposited enough to cover the 5 transactions you need to make in the 45 day period to get the $100 on day 50. He didn’t mention anything about the extra $50 you get if you leave the money in there after day 50? so… not sure about that. Also – he did say that the card will be mailed in a generic unmarked envelope within 5 to 7 business days from when you sign up and the PIN number for the card will come in about 2 days after that. So… It’s going to take about a week or so to get your card and pin and have access to the money…. just saying. Your 45 days begin from the moment you sign up (for me – that is as of today). Hope this info helps. If you need more info here is the number I called. BUT PLEASE NOTE! You MUST sign up ONLINE for the offer to be valid – DO NOT sign up over the phone.

That is even better news because I think when I signed up it was $100.
Breeanna Jezewski says
I’m signed up with this but had another question can you do the 5 transactions all at once in the 45 day period ?
Tiffany says
Just sometime in the 45 days

What does Capital One charge for debit transactions? It’s been years since I ditched the debit card. Do they charge for using it?
Stacey M. says
Is there any way for existing customers/account holders to take advantage of this? I already have both a savings and checking account, plus a 12-month CD with them.
Tiffany says
What I read was no 🙁 We have an account already as well. What about a spouse?
Stacey M. says
He’s already on the account, too 🙁 Oh well…

I tired signing up on line. Said I didn’t qualify. Very weird
Ellen says
I am a little leary about giving out the information it is asking for. Is this safe and true?
Tiffany says
Yes we have an account there. It is a bank so they will ask for all that.
Ellen says
I was just afraid to give out my SS number online…..I heard that you shouldn’t do that.
Tiffany says
Oh I don’t blame you!!!! No you normally should not. This is a very well known bank. But normally that is correct.

Last year I got the checking accounts for my husband and for me, we did the transactions and got our bonuses! Used it for vacation $. Tonight I opened the savings account but actually did it over the phone since I couldn’t find my sign in PIN from last year…and already the $76 bonus is in my saving account, it’s just on hold for 30 days. Awesome!
Amy says
I tried to sign up and it said that the information I enter was already in their system. I have never had a checking or savings account with Capital One. 🙁 I might need to call them to find out.
Tiffany says
Did you have a ING account?
Elizabeth says
So there is no monthly charge at all? Not even if let’s say I deposit a for a few months and then I stop depositing for a while? I ask because I have to other accts. but would like one for just Christmas or vacation and nothing else.
Tiffany Ivanovsky says
No monthly at all!
sandy says
I signed up and they took $76 out of my account. .. will they credit that back?
Tiffany Ivanovsky says
They should not have? Are you sure it is from them?
francis says
I haven’t had a bank account in years. Is this safe? Like I dont want them to over charge me, because ive heard bank accounts charge for everything and im just wondering
Tiffany Ivanovsky says
Yes, we personally use it and thousands of our readers have signed up for it. Completely safe. I understand your concerns though, and I did a lot of research on this one.
francis says
They said for me to give them a call and verify information is this normal? And if I call will I still be able to get the deal
Tiffany Ivanovsky says
Yes I have seen that before. But…. I think only the $100 is good online.
francis says
Ok well im still going to call because I did put all my info. Thank you very much for replying!! 🙂
