Also, when you sign up for free things they sometimes ask a lot of questions. You will have to give them your address and email. I don’t have a problem with this, but I do have a problem giving out my kids birthday’s and ages…. so I make them up!

Hershey’s vanilla fruit torte ~ Fruit pizza recipe!

I am posting my favorite recipes the next few days, this one I have been making since I was 17, it is my favorite dessert! It is PERFECT for the 4th! Everyone will LOVE you if you make it this weekend! In fact, if you make one take a picture and send it to me and I will send you a little surprise! You won’t be sorry it really is good!
First you have to create your base.
3/4 cup butter softened, 1 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup powered sugar. Now, I always double mine because I like the crust a little thicker…. (the above is not doubled)

Then press it into a pizza pan, mine is about 18″. The kids like to help with this part…
Bake at 300 degrees, 20 -25 min. until lightly browned.
Now you need your sauce, or vanilla filling. Did I mention this is really low calorie??? 🙂 Melt the vanilla chips with the whipping cream and beat in the cream cheese.
Spread onto the COOLED crust. I throw it into the fridge at this point while I do everything else. Yummmm, now I just have to keep the kids fingers out!
Cut up your favorite fruit (usually whats on sale!) Pineapple is a must, and so are strawberries! Can you believe I had to buy blueberries from the store…. Try to use as many different colors as possible.
Start spreading them out on the cold crust. This is the kids job.
Isn’t it pretty?! Throw it back in the fridge or put it somewhere safe so no one can snatch any fruit off the top.
Now it is time to make the glaze. You might be tempted to skip this part because it is so pretty already, but this will keep the fruit on the pizza, and keep anything from getting brown, like if you used banana’s. I also double this part. Combine in a small sauce pan until thick and pour over pizza.

I try and pour quick and then use a small spatula to spread it out thinly and evenly…

Here it is!!! I keep mine in the fridge. You will NOT have any leftovers I promise! I really need to get a better camera, this does not do it justice! People will think you bought it from a store, it is so pretty!

Hershey’s Vanilla Chip Fruit Tart

3/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. confectioners’ sugar
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Vanilla filling (recipe follows)
Fruit topping (recipe follows)
Heat oven to 300 degrees. Beat butter and confectioners’ sugar until light and fluffy; blend in flour ( I double mine). Press mixture onto bottom and up side of 12-inch round pizza pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned, cool completely.Prepare Vanilla Filling; spread on cooled crust. Cover; chill. Prepare Fruit Topping. Cover; chill assembled tart.
VANILLA FILLING:
1 2/3 c. (10 oz. pkg.) Hershey’s vanilla milk chips
1/4 c. whipping cream
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
In microwave-safe bowl, microwave vanilla chips and whipping cream at high (100%) 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until chips are melted and mixture is smooth when stirred. Beat in cream cheese.
FRUIT TOPPING:
1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. pineapple juice
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
Assorted fresh fruit
In small saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; stir in juices. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened; cover. Meanwhile, slice and arrange fruit on top of filling; pour liquid mixture over fruit.

Father’s Day Ideas!

Father’s Day I have to admit is kinda an easy holiday to celebrate! It always has to do with food for the most part and car accessories which are easy to shop for. We typically grill out, the kids make Dad a card, and he gets a new tie for church. I thought I would shake things up a bit this year and forego the tie. You know add some real drama to the mix!
 “What no tie?” he will exclaim! 
“Wow, this is a cool holiday!” The kids and I walk off superstars!
All joking aside, kinda, I love this day. Father’s are the best, we need them, and they like to get a little something for their hard work just like we do!
This year we are making Paul a little photo book. The pages are decorated in baseball and golf, the kids are going to write in some messages, when I can get rid of him, and we will add some pictures.

I was taking pictures on the sly this morning and didn’t get a picture of my favorite page. Paul always sings the kids the John Denver song, “Sunshine on my Shoulders” so there is a page with some of the verses to that song.

Good thing he doesn’t read my blog!
At the ballpark they serve a curious item called chicken on a  stick. No kidding, that is exactly what it is, chicken on a stick. We try and not make things confusing here in the south. So I figured, hey, I can do it too. 

I got a really good deal on chicken tenders last week and bought a bunch, and had coupons plus a huge sale and decided to be a little crazy and buy marinade, not make it. It can’t get easier than this.
I skewered all the tenders on kabob sticks that I had soaked in water, you know so they can be thrown on the grill and not burn. 
Next, I put all the tenders in  a bag and set that in a dish, I figured this way less cleaning and the marinade would sit on the chicken better. 
I dumped two different kinds of marinade on and completely ignored the directions. They said let sit for 30 min. I let sit for about 6 hours!
I think the Teriyaki tasted a little better, but both were supper good considering it took all of 10 min. to prepare and then threw them on the grill. They were perfect for the kids, they ate it right off the stick, no forks or nothing!
Sunday, I think we will do steaks instead, do you think steak on a stick would work???

Season’s Over…

Not only is the baseball season over but it appears that blueberries are done as well. What a sad day. Not enough rain and over picking have ended it early 🙁

Even sadder is the end of baseball season for us. Regular season was done a few weeks ago and all-stars finished last night. Everyday practices are done, every night games are done, and the stress of a double elimination tournament is over. 
I love my little ones getting filthy dirty at games and practices, playing in the dirt, and falling asleep on the way home.

I love my bigger girls making new friends with the other players little sisters, and playing for hours during the summer evenings, outside.
I love watching them help each other, the older ones running the littler ones to the bathroom, and making sure they don’t get too far away.
I love watching them make up new games, like ‘what kind of treasure can I find under the bleachers. ‘
I am sad to see how big they are getting right before my eyes, but how much they are learning watching other kids play and how much better it makes them as ball players.

I love my little boy running and playing with his sisters, and watching his big brother.

I love watching my son get better.
I love watching him get stronger.
I love the handsome coach/score keeper extraordinaire. 
I love how hard their team worked.
Congratulations 11 year old major all-stars! You guys are awesome!
