Our pool has been damaged since hurricane Ike. It has been 8 MONTHS. We are still fighting with our insurance company, and are submitting for the third time three different estimates on repairs for it. I am furious! Not only are we usually swimming by now, but it has become a health and safety hazard. Anybody know a good lawyer?
Miller however is loving “Lake Ivanovsky” behind him. He drinks from the pool all day and eats tadpoles as appetizers.
I wish you could see Storie’s face, she is the happiest kid alive. This is her favorite thing to do, aside from catching tadpoles.
This is my little house with the lawn grown in from the new sod. It just isn’t the same without my two big trees that we lost. I am going to replant something in the fall. Any suggestions?? I was thinking maybe a red maple.
This is the morning after Ike. I am going to miss all the shade I had in the summer. Trees really are a blessing, they just can’t pop up overnight. They really change the feel of an area, my house seems naked without them.
An Ode to Ike and other things!
A small request… We will be camping a few times this summer and I am having to prepare a menu and do the shopping for an upcoming camping trip, and I am out of ideas for food! Can anyone please leave a comment and suggest what your kids will eat and like while camping? Also, any easy to prepare and inexpensive ideas are welcome!
Aren’t they cute? The little frogs.
Not when they are in your swimming pool…
Any big plans for the holiday weekend??

So ideas for camping food, foil dinners are great, hot dogs and easy mac and cheese.
A red maple in the yard would be really beautiful. Good luck with the lawyer and insurance stuff, you know there is an abundence of lawyers in our ward.

Not sure I've commented before, but I love your blog. 🙂
Hot dogs and smores! Apples wrapped in tin foil and baked under the campfire. Cold cut sandwiches. Pancakes. PB&J. Diced potatoes, onions, and mushrooms wrapped in foil and baked under the campfire. Watermelon. Croissants or biscuits from the fridge section at the grocery store, the ones in the tube – wrap each one around a stick and roast it on the campfire. Or wrap the hotdogs in a croissant and bake that over the campfire on a stick. Hope that helps!

I’ve never commented before. I stumbled on your blog, have enjoyed it very much, and love reading other LDS blogs.
We are going camping for the Memorial weekend and food that we like are foil dinners except I put chicken vegetables, pineapple and teriyaki sauce and take the boil in a bag rice (easy to cook). Of course we do the hot dogs one night. Another favorite is navajo tacos. Frying the bread (I use frozen bread dough) in a dutch oven makes for a very easy clean up, I only have to clean a pot that we cook the chili in then top with the cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes.

My kids like chicken, potatoes, and zucchini w/ seasoning in foil and of course the old faithful hotdogs and hamburgers. A great dessert that they like to make in the campfire is chocolate bananas. Slice a peeled banana down the inside and stuff with chocolate chips. Wrap in foil and heat until warm and chocolate is melted…..mmmm these are so good. Take an apple and remove core. Stuff with peanut butter and raisins.

Oh MY GOSH!!!, I completely forgot about Banana boats! Thanks jennifer we will be making these! WOW, flash back to girl scouts! I also didn’t even think about taking a watermelon, that is a meal right there for my little kids. Lia, thanks for the chicken idea, I needed a new tinfoil dinner idea and I am going to try your recipe for Paul and I and make it a little more bland for the kids.
