This is a super easy dessert recipe called Chocolate Lasagna! It was sent to me by a reader of Paul’s, Brenda, and we tried it last night.
It is VERY similar to a recipe my Grandma has made for a long time, she called it 5 Layer Dessert and really the only difference was the crust. My Grandma’s recipe had almost a short bread cookie crust and it took a little longer to make. This one was super easy and ( don’t tell my Grandma) tasted better!
Grab a kid and have them put 1 bag of Oreos in a bag or food processor. Then let them crush up the oreos. They might stick to the bag but that is ok, because then they can just lick it out when you are done 🙂
* The middle picture is what happens when a bigger sister gets to crush the Oreos with the rolling pin and you don’t.
Now add the melted butter to the Oreos and press into a 9×13 pan. Make the first layer, the one with cream cheese and spread over the Oreos.
Make the chocolate pudding, and cover the cream cheese layer. Add the cool whip and mini chips and put in the fridge!
This is a super easy and no bake dessert recipe that will make you a STAR! Give it a try!
CHOCOLATE LASAGNA:
1 pkg oreo cookies (do not use the double stuffed)
6 Tblsp butter melted
1 8oz cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
2 Tblsp cold milk
1 container cool whip
2 pkgs instant chocolate pudding ( the smaller pkgs)
3 1/4 c. cold milk
1 1/2 c. mini chocolate chips
— crush pkg of oreos ( recommend using a blender, the cream filling stuck to my ziploc bag! lol)
Stir in 6 tblsp melted butter. Press into bottom of 13×9 pan. Put in the fridge.
–Mix cream cheese in mixer until fluffy. Add the 2 tblsp cold milk, sugar, and mix well. Stir in 1 1/4 c. of the cool whip. Spread over crust.
— Combine both pkgs of pudding and the 3 1/4 c. milk. whisk until thickened. spread over cream cheese layer. Allow to rest for 5 min. Spread remaining coolwhip over pudding layer, and sprinkle with 1 1/2 c mini chocolate chips. Place in fridge for at least 4 hrs to set. Enjoy!

My kids would love this! We have an ice cream cake with this same oreo crust. You use your favorite ice cream as the 2nd layer (need to let it get soft so it spreads on crust), then freeze. Once frozen, pour hot fudge on top and freeze again. So easy and good. My kids always request this instead of a birthday cake 😉 Thanks for this recipe!

what happens if you dont put it in the refrigerator?

Do you have to use cream cheese? I don’t like cream cheese. Is there a alternate option?
Tiffany says
Not really 🙁

You can skip the cream cheese, out the whole 8 oz. tub of cool whip on the bottom layer with the milk and 1/4 C. sugar then use another 8 oz. tub of cool whip for the top layer. My 13 year old doesn’t like cream cheese so this is the way I make it and it is wonderful!

Use vanilla ice cream instead.
Sarah Layton says
I can use marshmellows

This absolutely delicious! A great summer dessert. I used the ingredients in the recipe and I wouldn’t change a thing. This is a keeper!

The first time I tried this desert was with a chocolate cake mix instead of Oreo cookies. Has anyone tried it this way? I haven’t been able to locate those
directions.

would you be able to make this in a bowl or does it have to be in a pan?

Squash Supreme
one half kilo mashed boiled squash
1 cup condensed milk
2 1/2 cup nestle cream
ground baked peanut
soda crackers
Procedure
1. mix condensed milk and nestle cream to make the white sauce, you can increase this if necessary
2.Layer the mashed boiled squash all over the pan
3 .Pour the white sauce all over the squash and sprinkle the ground peanut on top.
4. Next layer the soda crackers and pour the white sauce and sprinkle the ground baked peanut on top of it
5. Repeat the procedure alternating the layer until it fill the pan to the top.
6. At the top most layer pour the white sauce and top it with plenty of ground baked peanut.
7. Let it settle until the white sauce absorb the soda crackers. The crackers will become tender and smooth when the white sauce is already absorb.
8. Put it in the freezer just enough for the squash and crackers to harden fit to slice- serve cold.

I made this today and my kids loved helping, haven’t eaten it yet but I had one question. When I made the cream cheese mix I places it on the crust but it seemed very difficult to spread without mixing I the oreo with it. I also didn’t have enough of that layer. DID I NOT MIX IT LONG ENOUGH TO GET THE FLUFF I NEEDED?
Sophie says
You would have to put the pan with the crust in the fridge to harden a little…. It definitely make it easier! I also ended up using chocolate cookie crumb mix from the bulk barn for the crust, which I double…)

Is there a substitute for cream cheese aswell as cool whip?
Tiffany Ivanovsky says
not really.

It was a great recipe but we had just enough of some of the ingredients. We were very low on the layer of cream cheese and there wasn’t much cool whip left for the top layer. Still came out good though!

Hey…
It looks good…
In Denmark we don’t have cool whip…
Is it possible to use whip cream or something else instead?
Thank you
Suzanne says
Yes, you can make cool whip by using heavy cream, sugar and vanilla. 1 c heavy whipping cream, 3 Tablespoons sugar (either granulated or powdered) & 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Beat till thick and can stand in peaks.
Kari says
I added Heath pieces to it as well. Great recipe! Thanks!
Barb says
Can you use the prepacked crushed Oreos?
Tiffany Ivanovsky says
Yes!

I made this but my issue was the crust sticking to the pan when serving any suggestions?
