Last week I asked on Facebook for your favorite Crock Pot Roast recipes. Within minutes there were about 50! Most of them were close to being the same, with just a few variations.
The weather is getting a little cooler, I mean it was 88 the other day which is a major cold front around here! It just felt right to start using the crock pot.
* It’s funny how I use it more in the school year then in the summer when I should be using it, because it is so hot to heat up the house with the oven. Go figure.
I had a roast (well 2 for us) potatoes, carrots, onions, Lipton onion soup, and Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup.
First I seared the roast on all sides, this will seal in the juice. My Grandma always did this, and that means I do as well! 🙂 Get the pan really hot and drop the roast in and turn on all sides.
I like to add seasoning salt to the sides of mine.
This one almost got a little too done but just about perfect.
Chop your veggies and add them to the bottom of the crock pot.
Next add the meat and over the top pour the dry soup mix.
Then add the cans of cream of mushroom soup. Cover and let cook for 6-8 hours on low.

Anyone have something I could use instead of the can of soup my son is allergic to eggs dairy and nuts, thanks
I do this same recipe with beef consumee, but you could probably use beef broth and you’ll want to add some salt to taste of it’s unsalted. You could also caramelize onions (in oil not butter, due to his allergies) with a pinch of salt then add some beef broth and simmer together for about a half hour, use this mix in place of the soup.
i was just reading recipes lately with a roast using v-8. unsure if there are any allergens in v-8.
I place a chuck roast in crock pot. Then I add an 1/2 cup of dale seasoning sauce and 1/4 cup of worcestershire sauce. Then I use an 1/2 of a chopped onion and 1 cup of water. Then I add chopped carrots and potatoes. Let it cook on low for 8 hours. This is delicious. If there is any left overs you can freeze it.
I use a pkg of Lipton Onion soup mix and a pkg of McCormick brown gravy mix and 1-2 cups of water depending on roast size. Use salt, pepper, lots of garlic powder, and fresh or jar mushroom with my potatoes and carrots.
Thanks for the help
