So you might not have time to make the darling wreath above, although the instructions make it sound very easy….. what are you getting for your kids teachers?
I bought in August some Breast Cancer Awareness Mugs on Kohl’s for very ( I mean VERY) cheap. My kids are filling them with candy tonight and we are attaching gift cards to them. I hate to do the candy and mug thing to the teachers as I know they get a TON but weirdly it worked out that way this year. The discounted price I got on the mugs allows me to get them a larger gift card which is what I am sure they want anyway!
This is an idea if you have some candles, air fresheners or other small gifts around.
I typically use them as Teacher or Primary teacher gifts just to say “thank you” randomly throughout the year. As with any gift sometimes the presentation makes the entire gift! I feel a little guilty giving a candle or air freshener that cost me only $.20 I would never want to just give it “as is” so I try and dress it up! Plus, when you attach a gift card it makes it really nice.
I quickly printed off this morning a business card size, little message with my kids pictures on them. I just framed them with card stock and laminated it. Then punched a hole in the corner and added a little ring.
Next, use the little clear party bags, tie with some ribbon, add some kind of “greenery” and your little tag. I think it turned out much cuter than just sticking it in a bag, it took almost no time and cost me $.60 total with the candle!
We took a poll last year and what teachers wanted the most was gift cards and so that os what I try and do.
Readers have really asked for ideas so what are you giving your kids teachers for Christmas??
If you have some time and are feeling creative you can go HERE and see the instructions on how to make these darling teachers gifts!

My kids are making duct tape roses this year in the teachers favorite colors. They are also making them for their grandma’s. Its keeping them busy for a couple of weeks. You can look up how to make these on youtube

Hey Tiffany,
I’m using one of your ideas! I ordered some of the insulated travel mugs from Kohl’s ($2) and then noticed the deal on the black knit gloves from Kohl’s for about $1.50/pr. (who couldn’t use an extra pair of those?)
Now I’m thinking I should’ve done the buy 4 get 1 gift cards from Starbucks… however, even at $5 each I’m still in for cheap – but nice!

Thank you so much for posting this! This year I did the mug thing as well, only because it ended up being very last minute this year. I did ad in some wonderful homemade candies though that I make every year anyways! Can’t wait to see everyones ideas!

My little people aren’t in school yet. But I hate to be left out! lol
So I thought I would tell everyone what my sister in law is doing! She is dipping those huge campfire marshmallows in chocolate and rolling them in sprinkles, nuts, Oreo crumbs, etc. They look divine!

I bought 4pk’s of ornaments last year on clearance 90%off from Target!!! ($.80 pk/$.20ch each) this year I purchased the clear glass coffee mugs with holiday wording/design $1 each at Kroger…I filled them with a mix of Werther’s original & coffee flavored candy ( that I scored for $ 2
weeks ago with my coupon at CVS) topped it with the adorable ornament slipped in a gift card and packaged it in a clear bag tied with some poly ribbon and the handmade cards that the kids made…..
I have also done handmade fleece tie/ no sew blankets, homemade fudge with cute teacher dishtowels and a super cute easy:
“Snowman Soup”
1 package hot chocolate mix
3 Hershey Kisses
10 mini-marshmallows -I used french vanilla jet puff snowman (walmart)
1 candy cane -(I used mini)
Place in a small ziplock bag or in a new mug.
Attach this poem:
“Was told you’ve been real good this year
Always glad to hear it
With freezing weather drawing near
You’ll need to warm the spirit
So here’s a little Snowman Soup
Complete with stirring stick
Just add hot water, sip it slow
It’s sure to do the trick!”

I do the crayon wreath every year and the teachers love it!!! Its really not that hard at all…and the kids can help…I am a little bit of a perfectionist so they dont glue the colors becuase I like them to all be the same way but they help tell me what order to put the colors in. =) This year I also did a project I found on pinterest. You make the teachers first initial of the last name large and them cut crayons to cover the print. You type/handwrite the teachers name on the side or below it and put it in a shadow box/display frame. It cost me about $18 to do. And only took about an hour! The wreaths normally cost me about the same.

Flowers are a wonderful idea as well as supplies for the classroom… just no more mugs. We don’t need them past the first year of teaching. Really a thoughtful note would be more appreciated than anything. Bringing use our favorite drink from Sonic is a fun idea. It doesnt have to cost a lot – just stop with the mugs.

If you aren’t that crafty I found a good present for coffee drinkers on Amazon. Even with shipping costs it’s cheaper than other places I looked:

I got one for my neighbors and one for my Aunt and it’s driving the animals nuts under the tree with the smell LOL.

This year I bought Swiss Miss cocoa mix. Our WalMart carried the ‘bonus 2 pack’ and I wrapped the box. Bought red and green(had white already) plastic spoons and had my 6 y/o & 3 y/o dip them in white and milk chocolate and spread Christmas sprinkles and crushed peppermint on them. Placed in cello bag and tied it all with a big bow. My 3 y/o threw sprinkle everywhere & made more of a mess for me to clean up, but I thought they would feel so proud to tell the teachers they helped make the gift to give out.

I wanted to give back all the stuff I’ve gotten discounted or free. So, my daughter’s teacher is getting a few things 🙂 — tissue box, Mr. clean magic eraser, gum, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, soft soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, razors, dawn dish soap, 3 – pack bar soaps, nivea lip care, lysol wipes and I can’t think of whatelse – maybe that was it. It sure was fun to pack the bag for her! 🙂 Since most of that stuff was either free or very cheap – I’m on the fence about also getting her a gift card to a local restaurant….

My 6-year old granddaughter chose a Gingerbread mug filled with cocoa mix, chocolate spoon, peppermint stick and marshmallows. We also included several personal items, i.e., Eucerin hand cream, shampoo, and a sense and spray. All items (except for the Gingerbread mug) were bought with coupons and chosen by my granddaughter. She wrapped each item in tissue paper, wrote on the card herself, and placed the items into a gift bag. Her teacher’s gift was from HER, not from me. All I can say is, if I were a teacher, I would love to have gotten the items that were given by my granddaughter–even the Gingerbread mug.

My daughters class is giving thier teacher a gift card wreath. Everyone is getting her a gift card to either her favorite store, restaurant and such. Then one parent is assembling them into a wreath shape. This way the teacher will get whatever she really wants or needs. I also bought some hand lotion in her favorite scent and the little stickers Tiffany had posted about a few weeks ago that say Mrs. Shafer 2nd grade. I’m sure the teachers will love what ever they get.

that is a GREAT idea!

I used to teach and loved receiving items to keep in my desk. For the past few years, I have purchased containers from Dollar Tree. I look for nice ones they could use in their classrooms for school supplies, etc. Then we fill them with items I’ve gotten cheap or free throughout the year, such as small hand lotions, Nivea lip balm, packages of pens, travel tissue packs, gum, mints…I also toss in a mulit-pack of blank note cards because those are always great to have on hand. Dollar Tree has a decent selection of those as well as 50 cent teacher Christmas cards. A package of resealable snacks are great too (Pretzel Crisp or Flips). We added a small denomination gift card for homeroom teachers. I like to save the $5 Target gift cards received for special purchases to give as teacher gifts. My kids were so proud of their teacher gifts and I did not spend much money out of pocket.

I made this for the teachers and they loved them! So easy to make! It took me about 5 minutes each. Good for the older children to help with, but could be a bit more challenging for the older kids.
