Here is my public service announcement for the day:
It is SHARK WEEK on Discovery!
My children have been crowded around the TV each night, sitting in the dark, freaking themselves out on the AWESOMENESS that shark week is! We look forward to this like people look forward to The Super Bowl, or The Olympics, or new season of The Kardashians 🙂
I knew that shark week had to be coming up again as I had only a month before, finally gotten my 5 year old out of my bed and back into hers every night. That same irrational fear that I have about loosing my coupon binder, she has about sharks coming into her room at night. Go figure.
Tonight is the BIG night, we are watching the great whites at seal island. I thought we would make it even more fun and frugal to make up for last weeks disastrous non-frugal family night. I thought about having Sushi for dinner so we could get the real “shark” experience, but the kids voted me down.
We had fish sticks instead.
And shark punch, I froze shark gummies in ice cube trays. Then made blue Kool-Aid and mixed with Ginger Ale. I added the shark ice cubes and the kids were thrilled!
Total cost for dinner and entertainment: $7
Total saved from last week: $104
Total satisfaction that “money bags” had fish sticks for dinner (she hates them): Priceless!
Oh I don’t feel that bad for her, I hate fish sticks and had to eat them also!
Do you watch Shark Week?

Part comedian, part Dad, part athlete. He will boss around your children while they play ball.
Just as angelic as she looks, this girl could easily raise a Village by herself, and all the children would grow up to be President.
Self proclaimed, she would be a webkinz dog. Because, "they're cute, and puppies are too. And they're sweet and they always get along with other puppies."
This mini-Martha Stewart can handle ANY craft you send her way. She isn't all bows and rainbows, she's got karate kid moves!
Not "Pick-Me-Up" like caffeine, she wants you to pick her up! AND NOW!
Anything that can be destroyed WILL be destroyed!
Practically Perfect in Every Way for now! Nicknamed "The Panda" she is rolly polly and lives by the motto, "the little one, is KING!"
The resident Labradoodle, Miller got his name because Mom won and got to name the baby! Need something chewed up? He'll take care of it. Especially if it's expensive..
We do!
my boyfriend and his son LOVE shark week while me and our son are just deathly scared of it. he makes fun of me because im from florida and i have the most irrational fear of sharks/whales in the world! lol
It’s funny, we were just watching it.
Don’t watch Shark Week…I have too much of a love for seals to see them eaten. 🙂
I loved your comment about “money bags”. She is too funny.
Thanks for all of your comical posts!
you are soooo funny, and I used lost of your ideas, for Im am not that creative. Thanks for your family shares.
We watch Shark Week. I’ve had to record some of them on dvr to watch the next day, but my son loves it.
I am enjoying shark week too…but missed the idea of shark drink. From where do you get shark gummies?
I found ours at HEB, but you can usually find them at any candy store.
We are watching that episode right now!
My boys have been watching shark week all week long. Every night I get to lie in bed and try to blot out the horrible things that I have seen that day. I am so glad that we just got back from the beach, because if we had gone next week, no one would be allowed to enter the water!
Yes, we watch Shark Week, great idea with the fish sticks and shark punch. I think I enjoy it more than anyone here. 🙂
recorded it to watch next week – my son is in surf camp this week – didn’t want to freak him out ! LOL
We don’t watch Shark Week because we don’t get any tv stations. Sounds awesome, though!
And, Tiffany, you crack me up! I really enjoyed reading your story from last week. I was literally cracking up as I read it and then had to retell it to my husband when he got home from work. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
Hey Suzanne! I miss you! I have not seen you in a while, I need to run over and see what is going on in your life!
