I have been meaning to put together a post about keeping a “gift stockpile” but have not had the chance.
I keep a closet in my house stocked with gifts for unexpected needed presents, or for the MANY parties that my kids get invited to. I figure we go to about 5 a month between all the kids. I buy many toys discounted and keep for parties.
This time if year, I keep a little money set aside for buying these kinds of gifts. You can get tons of marked down nice toys for a fraction of the cost.
Today, until Jan 1st at Toys R Us they are having a Buy 2 get 1 Free sale on Hasbro toys. PLUS you get a free toy when you buy $20 or more worth of toys!
This is what I did:
Buy 3 Play Doh Mr. Potato Head Sets $12.99 each
Total = $25.98 (after B2G1 free promo)
Get a FREE toy via the in-store promotion (up to $14.99 value)
Submit for the Hasbro Supercharge Your Gift Card & Cash Promo and get a free toy valued at $10-$17!
Final Cost $25.98 + 2 FREE toys!
Go HERE and do a search for Hasbro toys to find the ones for B2G1 free. They had some nice Nerf things also.

Self proclaimed, she would be a webkinz dog. Because, "they're cute, and puppies are too. And they're sweet and they always get along with other puppies."
