Has anyone seen this movie?? It my kids favorite book and a tradition in my family for my husband to read it to them on Sunday nights. I wondered if it was appropriate for my little kids? Thanks!

We took our six-year-old to this movie for his birthday, and he and his friends loved it. It’s not super scary, but it’s pretty intense, so I would see it yourself and decide whether you want to take younger children to the movie.
Also, it helped to know that the director was trying to use the movie to show how the world can seem to a child sometimes–unfair and unpredictable. Without knowing that, the movie may seem a bit random. (The kids with me didn’t know that, but they all thought the movie was great anyway. I guess because it’s how they see the world anyway!)
Overall, I thought the movie was very well done, and super cute!
Just saw it tonight for my 11 year old’s birthday. It was a very deep and reflective portrayal of the book, so for a child younger than 8 it might seem slow. I thought it was beautiful to watch and amazing with the puppeteering and cinematography. There were 2 swear words and some intense emotion in a couple parts. I am glad we didn’t have our 4 and 2 year old, simply because I think they would have not been as interested by the story and would have become restless. So without them I was able to really enjoy the movie myself.
