Suzanne and I were just discussing we needed to find a good deal on detergent… Suzanne are you there??

If you have a Big Lots nearby, grab their add, you will need it to pricematch at Target or Walmart. Thru 1/23, they have All 2X, 50 oz. and All 3X, 32 oz. laundry detergent advertised 2/$5! Head on over to Walmart or Target with your local Big Lots ad and do a price match. They should be able to honor the 2/$5 advertised price. …AND to sweeten this deal even further, use two $2/1 coupons from the 1/3RP! Your final cost will be just $0.50 per detergent! What an awesome deal! Thanks Hip!

Some Targets will not pricematch Big Lots add, they consider them warehouse stores. I will be going to Walmart so I know I won’t have any problems.

Slider Sandwiches!

If you are looking for a good recipe for the Super Bowl, look no further!
Wow, Had I known what a huge hit these little sandwiches were going to be tonight I would have taken pictures all the way through! I saw this recipe a while ago on another blog VanillaKitchen ( check out her pictures they are much better than mine!) and knew I was going to have to try them!
Today was the perfect day, a little cold and tons of football on T.V.
For my family I made 24 little sandwiches. There were 6 left after dinner.
Ham and Cheese Sliders
recipe from Vanilla Kitchen

2 TB dried minced onions
1 TB Dijon mustard (I used 2 TB)
2 TB poppy seeds
I used a couple dashes of Worcheshire sauce
1 stick melted butter
1 dozen dinner rolls (I used 2 doz. Martin’s Famous Dinner Potato Rolls)
1/2 pound ham (I used sweet capicola)
1/2 pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese (I used baby swiss)

Preheat oven to 325°.
In a small mixing bowl mix onion, mustard, poppy seeds, and melted butter.
Leaving the dinner rolls intact, slice them open so that you have one solid top and bottom. Don’t slice each one open, but rather as a whole.
Place the bottom half on a baking sheet or in a 9×13 inch baking pan, the pan size will depend on choice of rolls.
Line the bottom half of the rolls with cheese slices and ham.
Return the top part of the rolls and drizzle the butter mixture evenly over top.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Now use a sharp knife to separate the sandwiches.
(I baked for 15 minutes with foil then about 7 with foil off as I wanted the tops to get a bit of crunch).
These can be made ahead of time and refrigerated, may require 5 more minutes of baking. Also can be prepared ahead and frozen. Defrost in refrigerator overnight and bake as directed.

In Honor of this sweet little boys birthday, I am reposting my favorite post of him!

Ahhh, the allure of the baseball park concession stand. The aroma of fried food, candy and frozen pickle juice???


For a mere 25 cents you can buy frozen gatorade in a tiny 2 oz. little cup, my frugal heart breaks everytime my children blow all their quarters on these. But what happens when the gatorade runs out? The kids, with quarters burning holes in their pockets start buying the frozen pickle juice.

But, what happens when the baby not knowing any better pitches a fit for the frozen pickle juice expecting something sweet?

Let’s find out…

$1 Oatmeal at Jamba Juice

After we went to the mall yesterday the kids were so good and patient with us that we stopped by Jamba Juice in Market Street.  Jamba Juice every Wednesday in January has a cup of oatmeal topped with fruit for just $1 as part of their “Midweek Resolution Solution.” No coupon required.
They were delicious! We ordered one for every kid and even the “babies” ate the entire cup! The flavors were, Banana, Brown Sugar, Blueberries and Blackberries, and Apple Cinnamon. Worth stopping by for!
