We stay home and let the kids open their Christmas gifts at home, then later on Christmas day we drive 3 1/2 hours to my inlaws house to open gifts there. Then, later that night or sometimes the next day we head further up north to visit my other set of inlaws (my husband parents are divorced). Every year before Christmas my mother comes out and then at the beginning of January my dad comes out. With us being military and being away from family the holidays usually last for weeks with all the families. Christmas day can be very tiring with all the driving, but the kids enjoy getting to see all the family. 🙂
Susan says
Christmas will be delayed since Darling Husband is a pilot…but when he gets back, we will be keeping it minimal. We recently purchased our first home and started hanging with Dave Ramsey. We are spreading cheer through giving of things other than monetarily.(Sidenote – did you draw that sketch? It is divine – do you work on commission pieces?)

This is going to be a tough Christmas as I just lost my sister two months ago to a drunk driver. We are trying to make it a tradition to stay home for Christmas since we have to travel so much for all of the other holidays and I want my little one to be able to wake up in her bed every year for Santa. Hopefully my mom will be able to make it down so that she won't be alone.joeandoak@gmail.com

It looks like we might be moving very close to Christmas this year. Since I am 6 months pregnant I told the kids we'd probably skip the tree because of all the moving etc. So, we will have a simple Christmas at home remembering the real reason we celebrate this holiday, Christ's birth and then make the rounds to family here in town.
mari says
This is amazing!! Our plans this year are to celebrate with family – both my parents and my husbands parents will be flying in to spend the holidays with us!

Wow! What an awesome giveaway–I couldn't resist! We'll be home from Christmas Eve (I insist upon that) and then likely off to my in-laws in the Hill Country on Christmas day.

Since our mom passed away in June we are all wanting to make Christmas special for our father. We are all going to Dallas to spend it at one of our sisters homes. We are each making 1 homemade item to give in the White Elephant swap, I look so forward to this day
Ryan O'Neil says
My goodness, what DON'T we do… We start the night of the 23rd with all 12 of us (grandparents, brothers, sisters, and kids) decorating our own gingerbread village. Wake up the morning of the 24 to home made sticky buns and the 12 of us open presents. With such a large extended family we start early to be able to get everyone in. Christmas day goes in 2 hour increments like this: mother-in-law then father-in-law then father-in-law #2 then great-grandparents house. We finally get home about 10pm completely exhausted, but the kids have a great day and thats all that counts!
Are we there yet? says
I am so excited for Christmas this year as it will be our baby's first! We will spend Christmas eve with my inlaws and Christmas day with my family. Right now I am working to finish up Elleanor's stocking! YEAH!! Christmas is coming!!

We are having 3 Christmases. One at the in-laws and one at my parent's the week before. Then on Christmas day, the grandparents come to our house so the kids can be home to play with presents all day. We make lots of finger foods and snacks. It's so much nicer than hauling kids around to everyone's house on Christmas day. We love it and so do the kids!

We keep things very low key. Thanksgiving is for extended family and Christmas is just for the four of us ( my husband, son, daughter, & myself). We open presents in our PJs, eat a breakfast casserole, and play with new toys together. Then depending on our mood we will go out to the movies or watch movies at home. I don't cook, we just order a ham. It is my absolute most favorite day of the year.
The Pie's says
We have a huge stuff yourself silly breakfast at my mother-in-laws. complete with Boudan(sp?) the only time of the year we ever buy it. Then we open presents and visit.

Christmas morning the kids can open their stockings, then we have breakfeast. After we read the Christmas story the kids can open their presents. Every year we have a tradition of my father reading the Christmas story from the Bible and all the kids dressed in Mary, Joseph, 3 Wiseman, Angels and baby Jesus (if we have a baby, they are Jesus, if we don't at the moment we use a doll). We get together on Christmas Eve to do this and everyone brings gifts and food to share. Then on Christmas morning we are all together with our individual families and later we get together for Christmas dinner. This year my hubby has to work on Christmas day, so Santa will probably come on Christmas Eve after all the festivities of celebrating the True meaning of Christmas, which is Christ's birth. I love your blog, just got introduced to it and love the deals you post….thank you so much for taking time out of your busy life (I have 7 of my own) to do this.

After 4 1/2 months in the hospital (CVICU) my husband's grandpa recently got to come home. We are looking very forward to celebrating Christmas with him esp since we almost lost him three times during that timeframe. Also after four sons we had a little girl this summer and now our family is complete. So this will be our first Christmas with our "complete family".

Christmas plans are to stay home in the morning (we usually go to my parents) with the kids and actually play with the presents they open. Then have Mom and Dad over for Coffee and treats. Then head over to Mom and Dads for Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings and a couple of sisters, neices, nephews, brother-in-law…

I can tell you what we are NOT doing: This year will be our first Christmas on our own, after 6 years of spending it with family, either with family in UT or TX. It is also the first time in 2 years we will NOT be moving the day after Christmas! I am so excited about that! So needless to say, this year ought to be very interesting! But usually we put out cookies and milk for Santa, carrots for the reindeer…then Santa comes and on Christmas morning we open presents….seeing how we usually spend the rest of the day with extended family, I'm not sure what else we'll do this year since we are not close to any family.

We don't have what most would call a "traditional" Christmas, but we love it just the same! I have two daughters, 24 & 25 that will come in from Ponchatoula, Louisiana (they moved there to go to school, 1 graduated, the other is a senior) and my boyfriend and his 17year old son will celebrate by getting up really early (I run around the house screaming Santa Came, Santa Came) waking everybody up, cuz it's more fun for me that way! LOL – anyway, we have fund time opening presents, then I fix a giant breakfast and then we all watch tv (actually take naps) while waiting for dinner that night!

We are usually at home on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Christmas Day is very busy. We visit 2 sets of grandparents. We are so worn out by the end of the day. However, this year might be a little different, because I am thinking of surprising my husband with tickets to see his favorite NFL team that will be playing a few hours away. We will miss him so much that day, but he may not have another chance to see the team that he has been loyal to since he was a boy.

I moved six hours away from my family and our Christmas traditions to live on his family's farm with my husband (which is now our farm). Back home my family always got together on Christmas Eve, went to church then had an extended family dinner. Afterwards we would drive home and take the long way so we could see all the different Christmas scenes and decorations at different neighborhoods. Since I moved away I have started the same tradition, just with my husband's family. We have the SAME routine and even dinner menu as my family so that my little one's don't miss out on the loved holiday traditions I grew up with. Christmas is spent at home with grandparents coming over to see their grandkids gifts. What a great giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity! Margie tccsreading@yahoo.com

I currently don't have any plans for Christmas! My parents divorced when I was in junior high and holidays have been a mess since. My mother is out of state, my Dad celebrates with his fiance's family, and my siblings typically go to their in-law's, which leaves me, the single childless one (aka the free babysitter) gets stuck either having a traditional mexican Christmas with my BIL's family (We grew up with Swedish traditions, so I'm usually totally lost and fall asleep), or to my SIL's parents house where everyone forgets who I am or why I am there…. Fun! LOL This is why I should win! Pick me! Pick me! If your child's magical hand finds it's way to my entry, then I can spend Christmas with my NEW MIXER! Yay!!!!!!!Maybe I will stay home and celebrate with the cats this year! They know who I am! 🙂

Realizing some Christmas goals this year! Doing Advent with my children (the countdown to Jesus birthday), and keeping things simple. This mixer would be great for the tradition I want to begin- making sugar & gingerbread cookies with my 3 children, and have fun decorating them while listening to Christmas tunes :0) We also do this at Thanksgiving time for my Nana who is in a nursing home with dementia. She doesn't remember us, but it teaches us that true love is when you give to someone and don't expect something in return. Merry Christmas!

For Christmas we go to my mother's house for Christmas Eve, then the family all comes over to our house on Christmas day. That gives an opportunity for the kids to play with whatever Santa brings them, and the family to spend time together, too. I follow you on Twitter now, too. I am here for the first time from @ThingsMomsLike recommendation on Twitter.

We do so much for Christmas! Christmas Eve we go to my in-laws and husbands grandparents then Christmas Day we go to both of my grandma's houses. This year is our first year in our new house and with 2 little ones I am really contemplating taking it a little easy, but I doubt it!

Tiffany how do you do it! All those beautiful kids, an awesome web site and 'give away contests to boot.' I am actually headed to Texas to spend a couple of weeks with my grandkids (your niece's) and celebrate an early Christmas with them. My hubby will pick me up on his way home from his current movie, and we will make the delightful drive clear across Texas, NM,CO. and home to Utah for a very quiet Christmas. We have decided to keep it very small this year just for the simple fact that we have had so many blessings lately, that big gifts just don't seem important right now. This of course is his idea and I support him 100%, but a new mixer would make my season bright. This is my first time into your blog, so give Tonia some extra credit cause her blog always mentions you and I got in through hers. You do a great job and I will follow it from now on. – Thanks- Becky Roundy

Christmas plans this year? Playing with the new KitchenAid I'm going to win!! lololol! ;-)AND… we'll be going to MIL's house sometime during the day. Our kids are young enough, that we wish we could stay in our jammies and let them play with their presents all day. BUT, asking MIL to cart ALL of her presents to our house is a bit much. So, we'll go there, probably for Christmas lunch. Thanks for the chance! Awesome giveaway!

What a wonderful giveaway!! To start a new tradition in our family one year ago we decided to have an open house each year. This way the kids can stay at home and enjoy their gifts and we dont have to run to twenty different places! 🙂 We have asked all family and friends to stop on by for a bite before they visit their extended families. kendatoothfairy@q.com

YIPPEE!! I've been wanting one of these for a few years ago but never splurge on such nice things for myself! 🙂 Our family is all over the place. We split our day between in laws, immediate family and home. Makes for an exhausting few days…but so worth it to see everyone. My mom's family meets a week or so before Christmas for pictures and gift exchange so that we can all do things with our own families on the day of Christmas – sure makes it easier! And this year, my cousin is home from overseas – so a true gift to us all! Happy Holidays!

We do our family thing here at the house and linger over a breakfast of cinnamon rolls and bacon-waffle casserole -Oh, the carbs! Yum! We read the Christmas story at the table before tackling presents. Next, we play with our toys, call extended family and just sit back in bliss. Later, we bundle up and go have Christmas at Grandma's with all of my family driving in from all over. Instead of a gift exchange (which could get pricey) we all bring an item from our house; we call them 'yardsale gifts'. Some are great, some are quite ornery. Gifts are wrapped and place din a pile in the middle of the floor and we play a game of Sneaky Santa with them. Lots of laughter and love. We stay and linger over good food and good company until the children start dropping like flies and then we drag ourselves home. With blurry eyes, we light the Christ candle in the Advent wreath and read our final Advent verses of the season. My mixer died, right before Thanksgiving and I'm broke – what a fun possibility! Thank you for hosting such an incredible giveaway!

Robin Wright sent me!This has been such a taxing year. My mother has been through cancer, she's now legally blind, my father had a blockage in his kidney has lost sight in one eye, my mother in law came home from the nursing home and is bedridden and my husband is working two jobs… Our plans are going to be a little different this year. But I've still found my joy in the season. Bills were ignored so that my girls will still believe in Santa and right now, holding on to that innocence is so much more important than a month of phone service. We'll be spending Christmas Eve with my parents. That was always the family dinner and excitement when I was a kid. 🙂 We opened all of our presents then too. The girls get more excited for that than Christmas Morning. I hope it holiday season finds you and yours lovely!

We go to my brother every year and we always try to think of new recipes to make. Half of the family that will be there are vegans so it always is an interesting day. In the family there are 19 total people going to be there 9 kids and the rest adults and most of the time my sister in-laws family shows up too. So they end up with a packed house on Christmas.

My plans this year is to hopefully make our 1 year old's First Christmas the best one ever. We relocated to San Diego 4 months ago from our home in Texas, so we'll be without family this year. It's alright, because we've made a few great friends here thus far. We've put up lights, sung her (Bailey) Christmas songs and wrapped her gifts. She's SO curious to what's in those boxes. We'll have a 12 pound turkey to devour among the three of us, so a lot of sleep is in store.. Thanks for the opportunity..v/r Ronnie

This Christmas should be a super fun one for me! My baby boy just turned 1 on the 3rd, so it will be so exciting watching him open up all his fun gifts! I can not wait! We will probably be spending the night at my parents house on Christmas eve to wake up bright and early (or at least when the younger kids wake us up!) on Christmas morning! We usually do cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and than a huge family dinner! Having my baby boy in my life now has opened my eyes to cooking! I just want to bake all the time!! So a new mixer would be wonderful!! Hope you have a fablous holiday season!

For Christmas I plan to learn how to blog for a chance at prizes! It has taken me a few days to master this simple message so here we go. I am looking forward to being at home for Christmas with my family, opening gifts, eating and relaxing. This may be my husband's only day off and we plan to enjoy it doing as little as possible, yet making it another great day to remember when our children are grown and have their own family. I will cook like I am feeding the masses. My extended family will call and ask what I have cooked and tell me they are coming by for a plate-the foil and paper plates are ready to go!!! They will stay and chat for a few minutes but they will soon move on to their next destination-my feelings will not be hurt. For Christmas, you really cannot make any plans for they will just get replanned by someone other than you-so I "plan" to go with the flow and be prepared for whatever comes my way….

Well, since my family and I have moved twice this year, we're Like Tradition having Christmas at home. I live with my Parents and Grandparents and My mom's birthday is Christmas eve.So, I'll either find a resturant that's open on Christmas eve (I start planning that in November) or if it's not available, I'll cook my mom and the family Her birthday supper, per her request. My brother and I get to open one gifts on Christmas eve, after Mama Opens hers, Christmas Morning. We all wake up and open presents then my Mom and Grandmother cook a huge Brunch for everyone, and the day is spent relaxing, talking, and taking stock of all we're so very thankful for, figuring out gifts/how they work etc. While rememebering fond memeoryies of my Great-Grandfather who passed away a week before Christmas, 5 years ago. We loved and adored him. Christ is the Center of our Christmas. My husband and I are trying to start our own traditions for our little family unit of 2 adults + 2 cats. I am working at a coffee shop, which shall remain unnamed and is in fact open on Christams Day. (GRRR.) (Which is not the tradition we want to start, but I digress.) So I will most likely be working. We live several states away from both of our families, and once I knew we wouldn't travel, I don't mind working too much. It will allow some of my other coworkers to spend time with their families. My Mom may come down to spend Chistmas with us. I hope she does. My grandmother died a year ago, Mom is single, bro lives in France and sis will probably spend time with her Dad and boyfriend- which leaves Mom sitting alone. The Redhead Riter says
Our Christmas plans always include spending time together as a family for lunch/dinner. In the morning, we open our gifts (mom, dad, daughter) and then the afternoon is spent with extended family. I am lucky because we all live within 30 minutes of each other. ?

Your tew cute sister sent me to your blog and I'm very excited about your contest! My husband and I just married in October, so this is our first Christmas as a married couple and we decided to spend it just the two of us :DWe put up a little Christmas tree with lights and red and green ornaments (Christmas is about red and green!) It was so fun decorating a house that is all our own.We plan to sleep in, have cinnamon rolls for breakfast (Husband's favorites) and then open presents together. I suspect we'll end up waking up early because Husband is still a little kid when it comes to presents. After presents are over, we'll cook a big dinner together – since getting married, we've discovered we really love cooking together. A kitchenaid mixer would definitely fuel that fire! Then we plan to go see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. And that'll be our first Christmas together :)Thanks for the cool contest, and I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Holiday!p.s…. subscribing now!

I'm a new follower! My holiday plans are spending time at grandma's with my kids. They are super excited and can't wait for Santa to come…I was told that Santa comes down the fireplace and if we don't have one then Santa doesn't come. My son in preschool told me this – he was concerned when he found out we were going to grandma's for Christmas – but then remembered she had a fireplace. LOL!

However, I can't complain because they just bought a new hot-tub!
