Muffin Tin Swap goodies!

A while ago I posted about an idea called Muffin Tin Mondays over on this site, Her Cup Overfloweth. Basically, you serve little finger food to children in the muffin tins, and guess what, they actually eat it! I can get my kids to eat any VEGETABLE out there if I serve it in muffin tins. Brilliant! And, it’s fun!

I need one just full of mini sized chocolate…
So when she offered a swap I knew my kids would want in. Michelle, the owner of Muffin Tin Monday’s, matched us up with another swapee and we mailed them a swap package this past week. My swap partner was Debi, a mother of 7 children whose husband is serving in Iraq. WOW.

This is the package we got from her yesterday! Oh my goodness! I know she spent more than the $20 we were supposed to… The kids were mad that when they got home from school today I hadn’t had this ready for them. I personally can’t wait to dip the pretzels in pudding, I am serious, I did it in college almost every day. My favorite frozen yogurt was at Hogi Yogi, vanilla with pretzels mixed in. Anyway, back to the swap, this was awesome! I can’t wait to do it again.

When I left this morning, I asked the kids to get their rooms clean. If they made an effort to clean then I would help finish when I got home…

Not only is it not even slightly clean, but it is a bigger mess than when I left. Your looking at my Friday afternoon… Is it happy hour yet?

I’d like to introduce my husband Paul, who is now taking questions….

I would like to thank my wife for allowing me to pontificate in her forum. I am sure she is just hoping that I get it out of my system before she and the kids have to hear it. Anyway if any of this advice seems to make sense or you feel you are really getting answers to tough questions, please see a professional before it’s too late. And with that, here we go!

Brett, The answer to that is Yes and No, here is the breakdown. All of the women that are married and are couponing to keep from filing bankruptcy will think you are smoking hot. The single women that you should be more interested in will probably think that you live in your Mom’s basement and have a cat. Whatever makes you happy brother.

Without getting into the quantum physics that I know you aren’t that interested in, the age old question posed by Monty Python is 24 MPH. Next time come stronger than that, I eat those weak trivia questions for lunch.

How do you feel when your wife sends you to the store with a list and an envelope of coupons? From the checkout guy at Kroger

I am thrilled that I have a wife to send me with an envelope of coupons and that I’m not the guy checking people out at the Kroger. Do you live in your Mom’s basement and have a cat? Brett, next time only one question per session.

I just bolted outside to see what child had lost a limb. You would think someone had by the amount and the tone of screaming.

I found the girls soaking wet and screaming that something was in the pool.

I made them fish it out…

When that got old after 10 minutes of uncoordinated fun, I tried myself to catch the intruder. Hmmmm, harder than it looked.

I finally got him and let Emma show him off!

It was a crawfish, or mud bug, whatever you call them in your part of the country. Darn, too bad there was only one. A few more and we could have had dinner. “Them are good eatin’!”

Do you ever find random bugs, crawfish, animals in weird places?

Because we are the parents of 6 kids and have no weekend life, I am considering for the entertainment of all you other parents out there with suddenly no night life that we would start a corner of the blog called Ask Paul. I wanted to call it the Smokey Back Room, but that was already taken by a political forum. So either Friday or Saturday night’s, my husband Paul will be answering your comments or emails. Sounds like fun huh 🙂

Actually, the fun part is that he is completely unqualified to answer any Women’s questions and is totally untrained in the advice department…. just ask me! But he looks really smart, see above photo.

So send all your questions, or leave a comment. Be prepared that he is blunt and not afraid to say it like it is…. he likes answering the questions like: “how to you feel when your wife sends you to the store with a list and an envelope of coupons?” or “why do you hate your wife’s dog so much?” or even, “I can’t believe you have 6 kids, what does your wife find attractive about you?” and lastly, “I am a single male, do women find it hot that I coupon?”

If you happen to see this strange animal in your neighborhood, never fear! It is just my poor dog halfway through a haircut. Pretty pathetic.

I hate having to shave him like this but it is so hot outside and he has so much hair I hope it feels better to him! He is much cuter all shaggy.

Our 9 year old was asked to play all-star/select softball this past month. She loves to play and is a great athlete so we said yes. Then began the three a week practices, three hours a day.

Endurance athletes having nothing on this group of little girls. They play hard.

So heres to you little weekend softball chicks;

~You play 7 games on 1 Saturday back to back.

~You withstand the 106 degree heat and 100% humidity, It doesn’t affect you, little softball chick.

~ Your lazy parents watch from the sidelines in comfy, fold up chairs from Walmart, yelling from the shade, “Run, run, faster don’t quit, run it out!”

~You play all day, all weekend, in the heat, never giving up all in hopes of a cherry snow cone. Way to stick in there, little softball chick!

So heres to you little weekend softball chick!

I raise a cup of an ice cold beverage, while you drink from a rubbermaid cooler in the dugout,

Houston has an outdoor venue like no other in the country, Miller Outdoor Theatre. It is completely free and hosts all kinds of really nice cultural events. So when we saw that the “Bee Gee’s” were coming we had to go! Well, that and it is a central location for my Sister in Law and I to switch kids…

Apparently the Davis/Ivanovsky/Tew families weren’t the only ones who decided to take advantage of this free concert, the entire cities population of hippies and homeless people also wanted to hear Saturday Night Fever for free.

We secured our spots on the lawn right behind Mr. Homeless Man, who realllly liked to talk, and a few rows behind Ms. Freespirit, very flexable and I’ve had 7 glasses of wine. I knew the evening was going to be interesting, not only because of our company, but I wondered if I had brought enough food with me for our big group as we were all suffering the effects of second hand pot smoke.

It started off good, happy kids and all. But as the night went on…

They were dropping like flies…
I tried to interest them in Ms. Freespirit, after-all when do you get to see a 65 year old, heavily pierced, woman who is that flexible?
No go. Not interested.
Too bad for them, that was enough entertainment for me for a while, I’ll wake them when something more exciting comes to town, like The Moody Blues.
