HEB always has great deals, and it is the store I go to when I have to run on quick for things, and don’t have coupons with me. They have pretty low prices for the most part and there are always in-store deals that are good. HOWEVER, they are really making it hard as a blogger to post their deals.

There are 6 different ads in my Houston area, and so when I write up one, I get a bunch of emails and comments that “my stores doesn’t have that” and so on. Plus, the yellow coupons might be in different places at each store and when people don’t know where to look, they get frustrated and mad at me.

SOOOOO, I love HEB and there are great deals to be had there, but it will be a YMMV (your milage may vary) and you should always check your own ad.

The meal deal in my ad was really good! You buy shrimp and you will get $10.55 in free items!

HEB say it aint so!!!!! HEB is changing it’s coupon policy to exclude “stacking” the HEB yellow “B” coupons with manufacturer coupons. They claim it is because they are making way for digital coupons. This is what they have to say:

Beginning January 29, 2013, H-E-B will launch a new coupon system in an effort to bring more innovation and efficiency to retail couponing. Our new system will allow H-E-B to incorporate digital couponing in the near future, a feature that is in high demand from our customers. The upgraded system will give H-E-B customers the opportunity to access more coupons than ever before while improving their shopping experience with faster transactions at the checkout counter. In order to implement these upgrades, the newer technology will no longer recognize combined (stacked) coupons on one item. 

This is what I wrote on their Facebook page (which I am sure will get some canned corporate answer): 

HEB bad move. You have never been coupon friendly and who ever is consulting for you, has obviously no connection to the “coupon world.” You could KILL all the competition if you ever jumped on the coupon bandwagon and got coupon friendly. There would be no reason to ever shop anywhere else if you got up to speed, you would crush the competition. But now, you are eliminating the only thing that is keeping you competitive with any other stores as far as the coupon population is concerned. Couponers don’t really like digital coupons. They have been around for years and you are NOW just trying to jump in the game? Couponers will just price match your ad at Walmart. You just shot yourself in the foot. Check out Randalls… The new Just4U program? Thats isn’t going very well…. There is nothing digital that you can do, that will replace in-store “B” coupons which can be stacked, to make it worth it. We have all been there and already done the digital thing that every store has promised will be so “great.” Let us know when store traffic is down and you are hiring a new “marketing and strategy” consultant, I know a few people.

Currently at HEB there are 2 different P&G deals that you don’t want to miss. Both work together and BOTH will be awesome with the mew P&G coupons coming out SUNDAY! BUT, you don’t have much time so you need to do these deals ASAP.

Deal #1

Get a $10 HEB catalina when you spend $30 in P&G products. You have until January 8th to do this deal and you can redeem the catalinas starting on January 9th, so you can’t “roll” the catalinas.

TIPS: 

• Look for HEB yellow “B” coupons that you can “stack” with manufacturer coupons on P&G products.
• When you reach $30 in P&G products it will trigger the catalina to print, so then you can use coupons after that. Potentially your total can be way less then $30 after coupons and your catalina will still print. Cashiers might try and tell you you can’t use coupons and get the catalina this is NOT true. Just make sure your total is over $30 before coupons. The reason why it might not print is because of the HEB yellow coupons. So when doing your math you need to not include the yellow coupons.
• Watch the catalina machine. If after all your P&G products have been scanned and no catalina prints, don’t finish checking out, or they can’t fix it for you. Ask for a manager. Maybe the machine isn’t on, or it is out of paper, or a number of other things. But you need to pay attention and don’t have the cashier total the amount. This is why I always put them first so I can make sure my catalina prints.
• Only 1 $10 catalina per transaction.

Deal #2: 

P&G is running a $15 rebate when you spend $50. But you ONLY have until December 31st to do this deal.

I can only 4 P&G coupons in this transaction so I will be looking for the HEB “B” coupons in the store to use on the products that I listed for the $15 MIR.
