This is an awesome question that gets asked a lot. Can I use my humidifier with Essential Oils? I did a little more research today and actually, if you have any other options… you should NOT use a humidifier with Essential Oils.
Diffusers actually use cold air and nebulize the Essential Oils into tiny particles and blast them out in the air so that your body can breath them in to get to work affecting our cells in a positive way. it’s best to diffuse for 15 minutes out of every hour. This gives your body time to absorb the oils.
Benefits of diffusing essential oils:
- clears the air of dust and bacteria
- opens the airways
- affects mood
- absorbed easily by the body
Most Humidifiers use warm are and only push out the Essential Oils so you get a nice pretty smell, they are not actually Diffusing them and breaking up the particles. Essential Oils can break down the plastic over time and ruin your humidifier.
