She eats only the inside of the Oreos
I have a two year old. I love her so much it hurts. She is the center of attention in our home, she is dotted on and loved 24/7 by 8 people older then her. To say she is spoiled is probably a good way of saying it. I am totally OK with this though, she is EXTREMELY self confident and I hope she stays that way.
I just wouldn’t want to marry her. Just saying’…
I cried a lot when my oldest were 2, I cried less when #’s 3-4 were 2, and basically laughed a lot when #’s 5,6 and 7 were 2.
My blogging buddy – sometimes can’t hang!
Yesterday I walked into my bathroom to find my 2 year old on the floor with my liquid blush all over her church dress. “Why do I have liquid blush?” was the first question I asked myself? With my oldest I would have cried and asked “WHY, do you do these things?!”
Today I walked into the bathroom ( this is a theme with 2 year olds, the fascination with bathrooms) and my deodorant was in little pebbles all over the floor and smashed into the rug. She had rubbed it all over her naked belly and under her arms. “Good thinking” I told her as we cleaned it up. At least she tried to get it in the right place…. My oldest did this and not a couponer at the time, I put him in time out because I had to get new deodorant. This time, I just tossed what was left in the trash and grabbed a new one from the pile.
As she and I chatted in her little 2 year old Chinese sounding language, I was sad she was growing up and not too much longer I wouldn’t be cleaning up random weird 2 year old messes. Instead, I have 18 more years of cleaning up toddler, tween, teen and older messes but those are just not as fun.
Poor dog just wants to sleep, not get dressed up!
It is a little exciting to realize it is awfully quiet, and that you have not seen the little one for a few minutes. “Andie?” I yell. I hear cupboard doors slam, and a chair sliding across the floor. “Get out of the candy!” I yell not even having to walk in the kitchen.
I made a list of things I love about 2 year olds:
1. You love to try and come in the bathroom with me ALL THE TIME. As long as I have had a 2 year old, I am never lonely in the bathroom.
2. You are so helpful and like to try and change your own diaper, outside, when there is poop in it. INFONT of the neighbors.
3. You always find my bra on the floor in my bedroom or basket and bring it to me in the living room when we have the missionaries over for dinner.
4. You know EXACTLY what you want, when you want it, how you want it, and who is going to get it for you. I love that.
5. You are a little duckling. Whoever gets you out of bed that day, you follow around all day.
6. You watch me get dressed and point to my butt and say “Bum, ewwwww” all the time. I love that, really. After this many kids I have no self esteem anyway.
7. You torture the dog and he likes it.
8. You make your Dad cry when he talks about how much he loves you.
9. You copy everything I do. You try and put on my makeup, my deodorant, my lotion, my bras, my shoes, carry my purse and use my phone. The other kids can’t be bothered with me and you are always there!
10. You have shoes that squeak and can get away with wearing them all day! I want some also, but couldn’t pull it off.
11. You saw your Dad get out of the shower, pointed at him, and started laughing! I think my sides still hurt from laughing with you!
12. You bring your brother his blankie in time out. Even though he was there for making you cry.
As each of my kids hit a different age I find myself saying ” I really love this age” and it is for all different reasons. When they are older it is because of the conversations we can now have, and when they are little it is because of how sweet they are.
I am so grateful to be the Mom of a 2 year old right now. Even if she has ruined a dress, stick of deodorant, and liquid blush in the past 24 hours, that sweet little face makes it all ok!
What do you love about 2 year olds?!

Beautifully said! I love my almost-2 year old because she’s right under my feet 24/7 wanting to do whatever I do, because her second word was “coupon!” (first was “Mama”), and because she leans in for a snuggle and I get to breathe in her baby breath. Oh, and because every time we pull into the parking lot of a store she says “shopping!”.

I love my 2 year old Connie aka CoCo, and the way she wants to help with chores like laundry and sweeping. My little one sees a mess, get our the broom and tries to clean it up! Her 4 older siblings love this and don’t mind helping her out, very different from me asking them to do some clean up-thanks CoCo! She is going through a common phase, the answer to most questions is No! So it is a treat to see her smile and say yes to a question. I love my little one, and I’m a little sad that she may be my last baby, but I’m so very grateful for the blessings that she and my other children have brought to my life. Thanks for sharing Tiffany, your family is beautiful and I enjoy reading the stories about them. God Bless!!!

Great story, I love that my almost 2 yr old says “slug bug” in the car then says”I called it” then giggles and has no idea what he is calling. It’s so cute, since he can barely talk.

I love my now 3yo Trinity Aka doodle, AKA Princessa in this house she rules the older 3 and loves the Oldest Tristan (12) cause he is her big buda. I love the way she always smiles when she does something and say “o, I sowwy I not do it again” then turns around and does it again. I love watching her play with “her ponies” aka my little ponies…. She holds her own conversations with them and they are all family theres always a mom, dad, and brothers and sisters. I also love the way that if she gets hurt she always has to have a bandaid and a kiss even if its not bleeding and if it is how she says ” i bleed myself”… Kids are wonderful!

My baby is now 35 but has a just turned 3 year old boy. She texted me the other day and said he had just tripped on the rug and his plate of spaghetti ended up all over the rug, walls, etc. (She had also done that but was an older teenager) I wrote back that I was laughing very hard and now she knew how I must have felt. She then wrote back that I had yelled at her! Well, she was a teenager and he was only 2 I explained. Besides, it wasn’t my house! He also did exactly like a commercial – his first #2 was in the bathtub and not the toilet. They are hillarious!

My baby is 14 so my best friends children are my next best thing. I love when my little man runs and jumps in my arms and wraps his arms around my neck. They are the best hugs in the world. I love snuggling in the floor and watching Thomas the train until he falls asleep. I adore how he sits on my foot and begs me to stay and wont let me leave at the end of the day. Two year olds are the best and I have the patience of a saint at my age.

Well said! We can relate with many of your points exactly!! Our 2 yr old Princess prefers (should I say “only”) the inside of oreos….and doesn’t make sure the outsides make it in the trash. She LOVES her squeaky shoes and so do we….she likes couponing with Momma and going to “Market Stweet.” I also love her sweet baby breath….her older brothers are beyond the sweet baby breath now! lol She is our Baby Girl and she knows it! Her Daddy and both brothers anticipate her every need….and respond to her every request.

I have to say when I gave birth to my kids (at 21,22&24) I didn’t appreciate them enough. My oldest Jason was 2 when he ruined a new coffee maker with spices or when he rubbed poop on my daughter for a 5 days straight I flipped. I wasn’t the best mom then.Short on cash, working until 2:00 in the morning at a pizza place, and really not to happy in my marriage.Fast forward a few yrs to 2002 we lost my oldest Jason in car accident along with four others at the tender age of 19 yrs old. Makes you think alot!!!! Well after 3 yrs we adopted a sib set of four a 4 month old,2 ,6,9 . 2 of each.We were 43. You know what I love every moment now. They have been with us for over 7 yrs and I NOW try to not take anything for granted. She they drive me nuts at time but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So at almost 51 I have a almost 8yr boy,9 yr old boy,,14 yr old daughter, almost 17 byr old daughter and my birth kids are now 26 and 28 and a man I loved for 31 yrs. I’m a lucky mom

Oh Tammy, I am so sorry for your loss, it is something that I think about all the time and scares me like crazy. I have reread your post a few times to my husband and kids. That is exactly how I felt when I was younger. It was so much harder then. Honestly I know that it was so hard, you did the very best you knew how. Working until all hours and trying to get enough sleep and worrying where the money was going to come from is stress that makes it so much harder. I am so happy for you and how amazing that you adopted 4!!!! WOW!! What a blessing you are to them! Thank you so much for sharing your story with all of us.

Thanks Tiffany it means alot to me. As an older mom I see things alot different then I did when I was younger. I just hope if any of your readers read my story I hope they stop for an second and think just how fast your life as you know it, can change. This is why I am trying to get a handle on my food budget. I would like to get good enough at this coupon stuff to be able to stay home with my kids. Lots of love Tammy 🙂

My little girl just turned 3 on Friday. She is super spunky. Last Monday, at HEB, she covered herself (and all of our groceries) in cooking spray. On top of that, my 5 month old son was screaming at the top of his lungs. I found the nearest employee, apologized and left the cart with her, going home with no groceries. I was stressed out as it was happening but every time I picture the look on her face when she got “busted”, I laugh. It will be a while before I will show my face at that HEB again.

My youngest of 4 sons is going to turn 13 tomorrow. I remember “incidents” that each of my sons did. I remember at 2 the oldest son putting a peanut butter sandwich into the VCR. He’s 27 now and getting ready to leave for his 1st tour in Afghanistan. I remember our 2nd son trying to put a key into an outlet. He’s 25 now and going to school to be a teacher. I remember when our 3rd son was 2 he cut his finger on the inside of a soda can. Seeing all that blood made me nearly pass out. He’s 20 now, going to school but doesn’t know what he wants to do. He’s thinking of law enforcement. I remember when our youngest was 2 and followed me around everywhere. I couldn’t get him out of the bathroom when I had to do my thing. One day dad came home and he told him my penis was broken because I had to sit on the toilet. I wouldn’t trade any of those incidents for 27 years of calm. Those things shaped my sons and helped me with growing up with boys.

Aww Tiffany! I’m crying now..thanks. I’m going to need to borrow your liquid blush after mine is cried off. 🙂
My Mia is 2 as well, will be 3 in February. I wished my older two children’s lives away at that age. Now that they are 6 and 4, I’m appreciating them more. But my 2yo, wow. She is an angel. My neighbor said that Mia could be sleeping in a pile of dirt and still be happy. She is a true joy! She has one lone puzzle that she works 5 zillion times a day and is so proud of herself each time. Always a joy!

Totally agree with 4, 6, 11, 12! My 2yro is just like that. It must be some kind of code these lil 2 yro’s have. I love her so much she makes me laugh even when I’m mad! She is a stinker. She too only likes the center of the oreos, cheese crackers, etc. She likes to leave the outside parts around the house and go back and munch on them later. Like a squirrel. lol

What a beautiful thing to write/share with everyone. You are such an inspiration. Simply do not know how you do so much–how you can accomplish so much and still care for a family of 9! Amazing! Little people are awesome and they make us (I think) better human beings.

I read this while nursing my squirmy 10 month old and missing my 7 yr old whose at school… I was smiling thru all the tears. When she was little, people always told me this or that stage was their favorite age. I thought “what’s MY favorite age?” Turns out, mine is whatever age she is. Now its also whatever age he is too! I loved reading this, it reminds me to slow down and love each moment with them. Babies are a gift from God 🙂

My Danika is 2 going to be 3 in December. I am pregnant with identical twin girls that will be here any day now! Danika is the love of my life!!!!! She reminds me of me in so many ways. She is head strong, stubborn, and loves everyone she comes into contact with. She knows what she wants and will not let anyone change her mind. She is sassy and fresh at times but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My FAVORITE time of the day is the morning. Every morning she sneaks into my bed, snuggles with me and watches cartoons. I will say that being pregnant with an almost 3 year old is trying at times and I get frustrated easily but after a few minutes of alone time I’m better. Danika is quick to forgive me!!!! I just love that girl!!!
