This is a quick family post, and so you are welcome to just scroll past if you could care less 🙂 My 2 big girls and I headed out east for a conference on Wednesday. We planned this trip MONTHS ago and I thought it would be awesome to leave a day or so early to have a chance to take the girls around Washington DC.
When my husband and I were first married we spend a summer on the east coast and had the chance to tour all the DC museums. It was such a good experience I wanted to take the girls.
I am sure that you know that with the government shut down, all the museums and places to visit are CLOSED. We knew this leaving but I still thought we would be able to see more. NOPE. Oh well, we still got to drive past, take a few pictures and have some AWESOME cup cakes at DC Cupcakes. Thankfully, the government doesn’t own them and they were open 🙂
I have been blogging a long time, well it seems like it anyway. A long time in the blogging world. Many of you have been reading since 2009 when I started and I feel like I know you personally. Thank you for hanging around that long!
Back quite a few years ago I met my friend Lelee (yes on the internet) and we have been pen pals for a long time. She lives just outside DC, picked us up from the airport, drove us around to sightsee and had lunch with us and took us back to our hotel. It was one of the best days EVER!!!
I have a funny story for you…
From my 11 year old daughter, ” So, a lady you know from your blog is picking us up at the airport?”
“Yes, her name is Lelee.” I tell her
“So, you have not actually met her before?” she asks.
“Nope I have not in person”
“So, you met someone on the internet who is going to pick us up at the airport in a strange city, and drive us around all day?” she asks again.
“Yes.” I tell her.
“You think this is a good idea? Does Dad know this is the plan? Who is the adult here? We should get a cab!” She exclaims!
“Your right, don’t you EVER, EVER, EVER and I mean, EVER meet someone from the internet! EVER!” I tell her.
She shakes her head at me and walks away. I am glad at least they think things through, well some of the time!

Don’t ever stop blogging about your family. I so enjoy reading about them. I have to tell you a funny story. I am a registeed nurse and a lactation consultant. One year I attended our internation lactation conference in Scottsdalle, Arizona and met 2 lovely women who were also nurse and lactation consuntlan from Australia. We visited together for about 3 days and we parted ways with If you are ever down under come visit us. So I did, 14months later I flew to Australia by my self to visit these ladies I had only met once. With one picture of the three of us in hand off I went. That was in 1994 and we have been wonderful friends ever since and have visited each many times over the years. So your blogging found you a friend and boobs found me two life time friend. Ha You can find friends in odd.

That is a great story! If I had not been a blogger I was actually going to be a lactation consultant. I figured I had spent so much time nursing and loved helping people, that I would get certified. But I didn’t and sometimes I wish I had!

The lesson is “Do as I say, not as I do.” I tell you not to do things, but I, as the adult am allowed to. Too funny. Glad that you are having a great time despite the gov’t shutdown.
