I have been feeling pretty crappy lately and just having a hard time. I hate the end of school and summer can never get here fast enough especially this school year for some reason.
Then I read something today that made me cry tears of joy and all of a sudden every thing is going to be ok!
I don’t know who Jen is, but I think that I love her. If I knew where she lived I would have dinner delivered tonight to her house, but as another blogger finding out that info and acting on it, my luck would get me arrested for stalking. But then again, that would mean someone else would have to make dinner and mine would be handed to me!
Jen wrote a hilarious and all too close to home post today about the end of the school year. You can check it out HERE. The tears I cried was tears of relief. I suck right now, and I know it. BUT apparently I am not the only one, and for some reason that makes me feel better which then makes me feel bad that I am glad someone sucks at being a Mom just as bad right now….
Let me tell you about my last week.
- Our faucet has been slowly leaking for a month or so. Every night I put a bowl under it as to not waste water and use it for the dogs in the morning. It has gotten to where we could not ignore it anymore and my husband took it apart over the weekend ( in the middle of the Oklahoma donation drive) and then found out that you have to order the part from ONE warehouse and it will take a week. He lost the original piece and so I have NO sink for 5 more days. Awesome. I guess we are eating out and I am doing dishes in the bathroom?
- I was 20 minutes late to my daughters 25 minute program.
- I told my 11 year old to forge my signature on her homework folder because I knew I was going to forget to sign it. Suspiciously she did a really good job…
- We dropped my daughter off for her band concert for warmups. We came back at 7 for the concert. Only it had just gotten over, we missed the entire thing. It started at 6:30. I told her we were in the back and they sounded great.
- This morning at 5:30am I made the preschool teachers Chocolate Lasagna for lunch. I just realized it is still sitting in the fridge at the school. I never got it out to give to them. Today was the last day of school.
- For 3 days now I have counted swimming in the neighbors pool as a bath for the 4 littlest.
- I tried skipping pages reading to them the other night but they caught me. They knew I did it on purpose too #fail
- I washed my sheets 2 days ago, they are still in the dryer and every night at midnight when I go to bed, I am so tired I have slept on the futon in the playroom instead of making the bed. My husband I *think* has slept on the couch. I wouldn’t know, since I have not seen him other than a high five in passing for a week now.
- I braided my daughters hair wet at night so she could have cute hair in the morning. It was just so I didn’t have to curl it in the morning or find the curling iron.
- My son in high school had a group project that they have worked for about 80 hours on. They needed me to edit a video for them (which I am pretty good/fast at) but getting the different formats to work together from 3 kids was a nightmare. The morning before it was due I stayed up to 3:30am trying to get it all to work. I finally went to bed. I got up at 6am and started again. NOTHING was working. He missed the bus, then the start of school at 7:05 and finally at 9:30 ( the class was at 10:30) I paid $120 Β for software that would make it work…. and it did. I got him to school at 10:15.
- The kids went to school yesterday with a bag of pretzels, a cheese stick, a Capri Sun, and mandarine oranges. The five year old says, “why don’t I have a sandwich, and why is everything in a package?” The bigger kids just walked away.
- The 2 year old asked to play Black Ops and I told her “sure” thinking it would give me time to go to the bathroom by myself.
I am sure I am forgetting something and I bet if you ask, my kids can tell you. But I have dishes to wash in the bathroom sink or outside before it gets dark (which thank you, I know is against my deed restrictions) and I need to make my bed because I am about to pass out. But when I say my prayers tonight, there will be an extra special mentioning of Jen and thanking her for taping out this spring as well!

Sheesh! You need a break! Even if it’s just putting your feet up for 10 minutes and taking a spoon to some Ben & Jerry’s… do it! Also please stop putting adorable pictures of your little one up here because my wife just gives me that look like “I want one” and it’s a lot of pressure! π

OMG! I thought it was just me. My oldest is graduating next week, my middle got her permit this week, plus the end of soccer season, littlest’s baseball games 3 times a week, field day, field trip, soccer banquets, and coordinating family coming in and a graduation party, that’s just this week. I feel your pain…

I have been there too. Being a good mom and wife is not easy. I can say that you have inspired me. You have a coupon blog that has made my life so much easier and I appreciate all your help. It will get better π
Charity says
Tiffany, you are an AMAZING mom and this is a very short period of crunch time that will be over in just a very few short days! Until then: paper plates and more lunches where everything’s in a package and more swim/baths. This too shall pass, my dear.

I’m an empty nester but I can so relate! It’s good to hear that you have rough weeks too…I’ve always wondered how you raise those kids, coupon, blog and work full time! My son recently got married and I am looking forward to having grandkids and not having to deal with school!

Tiffany, I enjoy reading your blog daily. Today has been a very long day and I’m exhausted. With that said, you still managed to make laugh when I read your story. You have the best sense of humor! I feel your pain…the summer can’t come fast enough.
You are a SUPERMOM and an inspiration!

Tiffany, I read you and Jen’s post and I was laughing so hard my kids came out the room. I wasn’t laughing at you but with you as I too agree it was nice to know I was not the only mom and schoolyear melt down. I started off great but I am truly crawling to the finish line. I’ve been telling everyone the June 5th my phone will be off, the kids and I are sleeping until 1pm, and I don’s ask me to do anything! LOVE LOVE LOVE you post! Hang in there! We can do it!
QNT says
Keep your head up love! I will be praying for you and your family. You guys are such a blessing to my family saving us money. Thank you for all that you do. I pray it gets better!

It will get bttr! and u will make it thru this lol our kids do not come with an instruction book(oh how i wish they did!) moms are the go to for evrything . if its lost a mom finds it, if its hurt a mom kisses it and puts on a bandaid or an icepack, if no one has any clean clothes a mom washes some, if they are hungry a mom feeds them(even if its packaged its still food and still counts in my book! lol ). if someone needs anything a mom is there to find it, kiss it, cook it (or something close to that),clean it, put it away, or get something out( like all the times my toddler has put beads up her nose and i had to do that lol ) hug them, talk to them , and listen to them. The fact that moms do all this stuff becuz we are who they come to, is being a great mom! we might not always get evrything done in a day that we want to, but at the end of each day we love our children and and our children love us. thats what i believe. π i wouldnt change a single chaotic moment in our life! ( ok maybe having to get beads out of my littl one’s nose so many times i would change that! )

I used to feel your pain. I homeschool now! π

I was homeschooled. Many days it seems like a good idea!

OMG I SO needed this right now. We just got home from the emergency room with our 10 year old son. He got hit in the head with a baseball and we ended up with 5 stitches. However, on the way to the emergency room (30 minute drive) we lost a radiator hose on my car. Luckily we got off the road and into a parking lot. So then I am laying in the back of the car with the kid who is screaming over the idea of stitches and my husband is calling anyone who can come pick us up. And somehow I am supposed to be at school tomorrow giving final exams.
Tiffany says
OMGosh!!! I am so sorry. Concussion? Poor kid!
Katie says
Luckily no concussion. So. . .I guess good news there. π

Love it!! I love the fact that I am not the only one. My kiddos are out of school for the summer and I “thought” it would be a great idea to put all of them in summer sports camps. Then one of my boys got hurt and has to go to physical therapy 3 times a week. Today of all days was got up at 7am (went to sleep at 230am) took one kid to soccer camp and the other to basketball camp. Got both home to eat lunch, then go to the pool (b/c it was a lot of money for the membership and we have to go) then one of my kiddos takes swim lessons, then PT, dinner ( sandwiches in the car), then baseball practice. Did I mention I work overnights and have to work tonight. I am so tired. Just so glad to hear that I am not the only one!!!!!!!!

It will get better….I guarentee it…but, unfortunately, it will be when they are grown and gone….then, you will miss this drama…..and, believe me it happens all too fast……you turn around and they are grown….
I know I say this everytime you post a picture of that little doll…she is just too precious….I promise you I’ m not a stalker…..she reminds me of my my “little” girl who is now in her 40’s and has all boys….
Hope you have a great summer….
Tiffany says
Oh thank you! I really know I miss all the drama, and they are getting big fast. That’s alright, I am a total stalker on some blogs, and I admit it! π I love that little girl, she is a hoot!
Amanda says
I seriously just sat here at my computer and cried. This is probably a terrible thing to admit, but you being willing to be real encouraged my heart! Thank you for letting me remember that being a mom is just like this sometimes!

Tiffany-
You are always telling your readers to not be so hard of themselves. Take your own advice π Look back at some photos and remind yourself….You are a wonderful Mom to your kids and they love you.
PS Even Jen Hatmaker has a sunny side to mask those off days with her children π We all do

Too funny. I am so glad that my kids are all grown but I remember the days of baseball, volleyball, scouts, working full time etc. My husband actually had me sit on my hands at a volleyball parents meeting and Dared me to NOT volunteer for ANYTHING.
As for your faucet, most have a life time warranty on them. If you call the manufacturer (Kohler, Delta, etc) they will probably send you a new one or at least the parts for free. Maybe you could run a hose in through the window and wash them in the sink!!
Good Luck.

I can’t relate I only had one kid and that kid is almost 40. When you get to be my age (57) memories of those wonderful, wild, tireing and mind numbing day is all you have. Enjoy them and save these post so you can give it to your children when they say “my kid is driving me crazy”. HA HA
Jessica says
Keep your chin up it will get better and then you can laugh about it. And the little is so stinking cute! I miss mine at that age now they are older and in high school. I still sometimes look at them and picture the little cutest they once had. Ah it makes me want another one then I realize heck no Im good have a good day!

Swimming does count as baths!! What an efficient way to plan out fun time and the necessary end of day stuff. Been there.
Christmas, Christmas planning/cooking/decorating etc is fun. I have a totally different opinion of the end of school and all the different homeroom moms opinions on what we need to do for the school, staff and not to mention programs which require extra practice, special clothes, and cash.
I think I need to go swimming now! HeeHee!
