I dont even care if this photo is fuzzy. Greatest. Moment. Ever. Photo with The Pioneer Woman at Blogher.
Well, except for this moment, The Pioneer Woman taking a photo of my sister 2 years ago.
I have met a few celebrities in my lifetime. Crazy places, unexpectedly, and also expected places like at book signings and on a few sets of TV shows. Many are really cool and nice and some are sadly not very nice and crushed my little heart! I hate being disappointed in what people are really like. Or maybe I caught them on a bad day? Anyway, it is fun to see famous people!
Paul is a pretty good golfer, or was a few years ago ( sorry honey ) we won a lot of really cool trips and things when he played regularly. He once won a trip to Maui, Hawaii from Mercedes Benz to play in the Mercedes Pro Am at the Ritz Carlton. Yeah, let me tell you, that was a REALLY rough trip to go on… ๐
This was pretty much the coolest thing I had ever had the chance to do at the time, except that when we got to the front desk to check in they said there was an urgent message waiting for us. Of course we panic and are worried about the kids. Turns out my sister totaled our car (and a few other cars) only hours after we had left and my parents were calling to let us know everyone was ok, but we had no car. Well hey, we were in Maui, we can deal with that when we get back.
Later that night I got in the elevator to go down to dinner, when the door opened I had to maneuver around some old guy to get in and stood next to a woman who appeared to be having a seizure. I was concerned and so I kept staring at her and finally asked if she was ok. She mumbled “yes” the door opened and the old guy got off.
“Oh my GAWD!!!” she yelled when the door closed. “I can’t believe it, I just can’t believe it!”
“What?” Totally clueless I asked her.
“Don’t you know who that was?” She yelled at me!
“I have no idea.” I told her.
“CLINT EASTWOOD!!!” She exclaimed and got off on her floor.
I had no idea. I sure didn’t look like the guy I knew as Clint Eastwood! However, I saw him a few more times over that week and it really was. He just, looked, old…. Sorry, he did!
Anyway, that is my “I was on the elevator with Clint Eastwood and didn’t know it story.”
Sometime you will have to remind me to tell you about the Lionel Richie / Eddie Murphy mix up we had that weekend also. That was good times!
Who was the coolest celebrity you ever met?ย

In New York one trip, we were going to a Broadway show with a group of people. We had to take an elevator to the theatre and when we got on, it was too crowded for all of us so my good hubby stayed behind to take the next one. He got on the next one and rode up with Henry Winkler aka the Fonz!!!! They chatted the entire ride…
I was so jealous!!!!! So I guess this is who I didn’t meet ๐

About 20 years ago I was working in the Galleria area. At lunch I took my car to a car wash and when I was in line to pay. The man in front of me turned around and it was Ray Childress. I yelled “Oh my gosh! Your Ray Childress!” He said I am? I guess I am, have a great day.

I met Bela Karolyi in the parking lot at Sam’s Club. He even signed his name on a little piece of paper I had with me…but I’ve since lost it. Sigh. I would say that my daughter is the biggest celebrity that I know now.

Years ago, there was a celebrity golf tournament at the Wyndham hotel across from Greenspoint Mall. Yeah, way back when it was a good mall. I worked at a hair salon in the shopping center connected with the Wyndham. A co-worker and I were in the gift shop when a tall, distinguished gentleman walked in. My friend stood frozen with her mouth open and I wondered what was wrong. Seeing my friend in a ‘stupor’, the man starting speaking French to the cashier, then quickly walked out. The cashier had no idea what he said. The man was Charlie Pride. We also saw Clint Eastwood sitting in the open dining area, when he was much younger and looked like himself;) He saw us gawking at him and dropped his napkin so that he could duck under that table. lol

I just remembered about this one, though only those of us who grew up in Houston would know him. I saw Ron Stone at the Astrodome once. I went out in the hall and saw him face to face. I was smiling. I didn’t say a word. He just made a grumpy old man disgusted face and walked away. Disappointed me totally. I hope he sees this. I’ve always wanted him to know how rude he was!

I was in New York a couple years ago, staying across from the Hard Rock Cafe. Every morning Julia Roberts would jog by my hotel with her body guards. One morning I happened to be outside at the right time and she stopped right beside me for a breather. I was so excited. We chatted for awhile and she even gave me her autograph. It was the coolest moment ever. We chatted for about 15 minutes. Then the same day some friends and I was getting ready to cross the street and ran into Martha Stewart. I said “Omg hello Martha!!” She was so rude and stubbed her nose up to me. So people think they are better than others, honest to god, she was standing next to a puddle when I said hello to her and a car flew past and splashed her. I guess it was karma, but I did get a good chuckle out of it. Things like that even happen to celebrities!

Paula Deen at a book signing in Savannah: I told her how much I admired that she had been a single mom and started a business to support her family. She took me by the hands and pulled me across the table to her and said in her beautiful drawl: “Honey, I just want you to know that if I can do it, you can do it, too, because I ain’t no Einstein.” She’s awesome!!

While doing a STAR HOMES tour in LA last summer (we were visiting our son who works at SONY PICTURES), our tour guide took us by Victoria and David Beckam house and she said, well if you arent interested in their house perhaps you would be interested in their neighbor’s. No longer than she had said EDDIE MURPHY is their neighbor and he came flying around the corner in his fast little car! He actually stopped in the middle of the road and smiled and waved at all of us star-struck tourists! He was so friendly!!

I think it would have to be Quanell X and Matt Patrick that one in the news station. I can’t believe I didn’t who they were.
