Ever wondered exactly how prime pantry works? This is the post for you!
One of my favorite things to find on my porch is a box from Amazon labeled Prime Pantry. For times when I NEED a convenient way to pick up pantry staples, some facial moisturizer, Paul’s favorite shampoo, a new pack of toothbrushes, and a whole giant jar of gummy vitamins without running around town – Prime Pantry is my friend 🙂
If you’re new to Prime Pantry though, it can be a teensy bit confusing at first glace – so let’s walk through how Prime Pantry works!
How Does Prime Pantry Work
First of all – Prime Pantry is ONLY for Prime Members. These items are priced LOWER than normal Amazon prices and are very competitive with Walmart.com. (Not one time when I’ve checked have they been over – and that’s a fact!) Not a Prime member yet? Sign up for a FREE Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial here!
Secondly – there’s a $5.99 charge to ship your Prime Pantry Box. Yes – even though you’re already an Amazon Prime Member. Prime Pantry boxes are usually bigger and full of lots of items so they’re heavier, and they ship via Ground Delivery. Hence the $5.99 flat rate shipping.
The boxes really do hold a LOT – and you’ll see that as you’re loading stuff into your cart. It will tell you the percentage you’ve filled up in the top right hand side of the screen 🙂
Now that you’re familiar with the downsides (yep those are the only downsides!) – let’s move on to the things that make it AWESOME:
-
If you buy 5 select items you’ll save $6 off your order.
That effectively will cancel out your $5.99 flat rate shipping. Woohoo! There are lots of items that qualify for this promotion, and they rotate weekly. You can check them out HERE.
-
Prime Pantry Items are low-cost and many have eCoupons you can clip as well.

-
Just like Target or Walmart – Prime Pantry puts things on Clearance
That means it gets a little cheaper as they clear out items that haven’t been as popular or are going out of season. Check out the clearance section here!
- Great packaging protects your items.I was worried when I ordered tortilla chips and a heavy bottle of juice that things might end up getting smooshed. But the way they take care to partition the packaging keeps everything safe and steady during transit!
And hey – did I mention that other reason I really love using Prime Pantry?
IT’S SO CONVENIENT!
Let me know if you enjoy using Prime Pantry – and what’s on your re-order list!
