Aren’t they CUTE?!
Since there is no one online today, I just checked and I think you all must be partying withΒ Dad, I am going to not kill myself getting deals up today and get some housework done π
I would spend the day pampering my husband but he is with my daughter (above) at a pageant downtown. Which I am going to review for you probably tomorrow as probably one of the biggest scams out there, don’t tell my daughter, she has had a GREAT time. But Mom (or Dad!) to Mom, I don’t want Β you to get sucked in like we did and so I will post about it tomorrow!
Also, since the jet lag has finally wore off and I am not in a sleep deprived haze anymore. I am going to finish posting my China pictures this week, including the seahorses on a stick, and beetle – ka – bobs that I passed on.
PLUS, just as I am finally HOME, we are leaving again to California for my husbands sisters wedding. YES we are DRIVING. Have you seen National Lampoons Vacation??? Oh Yes…. live updates from the road with 7 kids in a car for 3 days! This will be fun… like poking your eyes with toothpicks fun! Sit back and laugh at us and be glad it is not you. That is why I am here for you!
I will have some traveling tips and tricks plus a number of “what not to do” ideas because we have plenty of those also!
Have a great Father’s Day and check back tomorrow as I am posting from the road for 3 days on 1-10. I am going to need to moral support! Comment people, comment, so I have something to keep me sane!

Yes, they are adorable! Wonderful picture. Looking forward to the pics from China, but I already feel for your car trip. I hate them.
Happy Father’s Day to your hubby!

I am usually more of a blog “stalker” then a commenter, but I want to keep you sane π Thanks for all that you do. Prayers for your trip, though sadistically I really am looking forward to hearing about what I am sure will be an entertaining trip .
Thanks Tiffany.
Tiffany says
Thanks for stalking! I do that also!

Bob here – the guy with a daughter who just returned from South Korea and is leaving for China in a couple weeks – we had a dialog while you were in China…
My daughter informs me the ‘seahorse on a stick’ & ‘beetle-ka-bobs’ are provided to entertain international travelers and that locals don’t really eat that stuff. They get a good laugh at foreigners expense watching them bravely proving their adventurous side. Apparently one of their favorites with friends is ‘hotpot’ where there is a boiling pot in the middle of the table full of meat, veggies, etc….
The road trip actually sounds fun to me – I have tons of fond memories from Michigan to Fort Meyers, Florida road trips. (Prior to seatbelts becoming a priority we made forts in the back of the Ford ‘Club Chateau’ van with the third row seat removed – we even had our own small B&W portable TV.)
Too many of today’s kids don’t realize how big the country is – they think there is the east coast, the Florida/Texas coast and the west coast. Flying means all the cool places in between are unknown to them.

I have driven Houston to Arizona and back with a 5 year old so I know how awful it is! West TX is the worst, 500 miles of NOTHING. No cell reception, “next gas 80 miles” signs, omg! If you get to be the passenger bring your binder and do a major clean-out to kill time! And maybe some earphones to block out the kid noise hahaha π

Poking your eyes with toothpicks, you crack me up. I couldn’t wait to log on & see your next China installment. My husband & daughter are often asking me what I am up here hysterically laughing about. Can’t wait to hear about this California trip! Good luck! -fellow Texan friend

Hope you had a relaxing day and were able to get some things done. I’m glad you are going to post about the scam and hopefully save others from being sucked in.

Safe trip and maintain your sanity. The hardest part of the trip coming and going is getting to El Paso, the rest is a breeze. Happy Father’s Day to Paul.

As usual you are my hero!! I only have 3 kids but have made that trip more than once π Next month our family will be driving from Austin to Utah (2 day trip, staying for 5 days) then turning around and doing it again in the fall…uggggh!!! We often can’t get 1 room either, I’m glad we are not the only ones with the “if they don’t ask, we won’t tell” how many people will be sleeping in there. Personally I fe
el it would be much easier to get the family out in an emergency if we are all together. But…
Hope you guys have a great time, and Paul remembered to secure the coke!!!
Anxiously waiting for your trip updates, LOVE ‘EM!!
Tiffany says
LOL! hope! Thank you for remembering the coke! It is secure in the cooler in the car this time!

I drove from New Jersey to Utah with 3 children ages 7, 8 and 9 by myself. Everyone told me to give my kids Benedryl so they would be calm and quiet. Really??? Theses were mothers telling me to do this! I had a safer idea that didn’t involve drugging my children. Some may consider this cruel parenting, but I was a single mom who was desperate. I put their rollerblades and a piece of rope in the trunk and showed the kids. I told them that if they couldn’t behave and keep their hands to themselves, I would tie the rope to the bumper and they would be rollerbading to Utah. They giggled, but must have believed me because everyone was on their best behavior the whole trip.
Tiffany says
My kids get hyper on Benedryl! LOL! Mine worry about the ” I am going to pull the car over!”
