Since today was the first day Dollar Tree was accepting coupons, Paul and I went to see what was up with it. We normally don’t shop on Sunday’s but I wanted to report back what was happening.
Pretty much it was uneventful 🙂
The stores were not crowded with couponers, we only saw a few. The cashiers were nice although I don’t think they got any training except to be handed the coupon policy. Which is actually different then the one they have had on their website, so I am not sure how they are going to fix that! There were really a lot of good deals to be had. The hardest part is going to be READING the coupons VERY carefully, as Dollar Tree has weird sizes that most of us are not used to.
Dollar Tree 2012 Coupon Policy:
The only real issue that anyone seems to be having is with the #4 in the coupon policy.
#4. We are unable to accept coupons for “Free” items with no purchase requirements or where the amount for the product is blank.
Cashiers are taking this to mean that they can not take coupons that are for $1 off, as it will make the item free. This is NOT what this means. It means that they will not take a coupon that states you get the items free and has a place for the cashier to write in the amount.
For example:
I could NOT use this coupon at Dollar Tree. There is no purchase required and the cashier has to add in the price.
Likewise, a $1 off coupon requires you to purchase an item in order to receive a $1 off. Make sense? Hopefully, the Dollar Tree cashiers and managers will get some training and a little more help.
This is really exciting, I have already seen some great deals and am excited to see each week more and more great deals available!

Just as angelic as she looks, this girl could easily raise a Village by herself, and all the children would grow up to be President.

Thank you sooo much. That helps alot! Yes, hope they will learn along as well. We are all learning.
Rosenberg Tx store would not take coupons today. The cashier said he didn’t know they were accepting coupons so went to ask and was told that they had not received their instruction booklet and so could not accept coupons….said maybe tomorrow. What???
I had a BIG problem using my Free Kraft coupon at Kroger. They made me feel like a criminal:( Bc the coupon was not scanning, but I’m pretty sure that young guy who always gives me a hard time with coupons did it on purpose. All I said was that I would use it at a different store.
I went to the DollarTree yesterday. It was great I was able to get allot of stuff free. I was thinking that the store would be full of couponers and it would be a mad house. Not the case I was the 1st one in the store all day to use coupons. Not a problem, the cashiers were great. I see then bascially every week when I go to get my dollar store items. The policy is great and not an issue for me.
I went sunday, in north texas (Bedford) and had no issues. They even said i was the first couponer. They seemed to understand everything.
