We have been in our new house for almost 2 months now. Since we moved in, I have had this urge for chocolate chip cookies ALL THE TIME. I can smell them and see them all day long in my head! The other day I finally broke down and made a batch. As I took them off the cookie sheet to cool and put them on the counter, I realized where my craving came from!
The granite counter tops look like a GIANT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE! This is not good for my figure!
However, I made some pretty dang good cookies!

I live at 7500 ft and this is the only chocolate chip cookie recipe that works! I think it has something to do with the pudding because when I add it to my cake mixes they bake up well too!

Janell,
I used to live in the mountains in CO and the only chocolate chip cookie recipe I could get “right” was the High Altitude Recipe on the back of the bag of Nestle TollHouse Chocolate Chips—they came out perfect every time!…now that I live at sea level I can’t WAIT to try the recipe here! : ) (Thanks for sharing Tiffany!)
Amy says
do you make the pudding before you add it in?
Tiffany says
No just put in the powder!

Ok, I just had to make these after reading this in the morning. I divided all the ingredients for my two boys, 2 & 5, to put in the mixture. They couldn’t wait! My little one was dancing in front of the kitchen gate, he was so excited. When they finally came out of the oven, he told me to blow. “Bo on dem momma!” he says. I added nuts to half the batter. I like mine nutty. These turned out so great! Thanks for the recipe!

I have made these in the past and the pudding is the magic touch!! It makes them so moist they pratically melt in your mouth. I even used them to bribe people at work!! I had my co-workers constantly asking me when I was going to make the cookies again..After that I was forever called “The Cookie Lady”.

Mmmm, these sound just like my mom’s cookie recipe, except maybe doubled. ๐ Since we’re in between boxes of Girl Scout cookies* maybe I’ll have to make some now too. ๐
*We buy extra, store them in the freezer or a dark cupboard, and forget about them – that’s the only way to make them last. ๐

I have been making these cookies for years. It’s the only recipe that i found that the cookies come out and stay soft. My family LOVES them!

I had an issue with craving some homemade cookies the other day! Made them and they were great. I always use my grandmas recipe, but I might try this one for something different. One thing I noticed is the ratio of brown sugar to white sugar, that is one of the key factors in my grandma’s cookies, makes them super yummy. One way to cut a few calories without sacrificing flavor is to use mini chocolate chips, use half as much but there is still plenty of chocolate to go around. I’ve never had anyone complain! Love your blog!
