We had the most amazing last few days full of family and friends. My parents are here from Beijing and we spent a few days at the most amazing TX hill country cabin. I will be posting more pictures later tonight because the week between Christmas and New Years is a little slow for deals. Plus I took a few cool pictures I want to brag about some. ๐
My husband bought me some cool footie PJs you can see above, and like a dummy I posed with a cookie and my sister posted it all over FB. That is pretty much how I spent my break, eating junk food. Which is fun at the time, but as we left ย my SIL and I just didn’t feel good. I really felt gross eating all that high sugar food.
We decided to do a 5-7 day juice cleanse this next week. I have not done one in a long time, and looking around on the internet I am having a hard time finding a good plan or schedule. These are the 2 that I think are the most helpful, The Happy Family Movement and Mary Crimmins. But, if you have done a juice fast or cleanse I would love some advice and information! Wish us luck!

Make it easy and follow the advice on Sick Fat and Nearly Dead. Remember to get more vegetables than you think you will need and be ready to ride out the icky feeling you’ll experience. It’s just your body detoxing.

Hi Tiff! I did the Dr. Oz 3 day detox and it was pretty good! Lost 4 lbs and felt sooo amazing afterwards!! I also did not feel hungry and with all 4 smoothies you end up getting around 1300 calories per day. It is on his website if you are interested! Oh and the pjs are super cute!! ๐

We have a fancy juicer that has been used ohhh once (someone was convinced if we bought it, they would do a juice diet and loose a bunch of weight) It is sitting on my fridge if you need one…. The same person then bought a Nutribullet two weeks later thinking that would be the magic ticket. ๐
Tiffany says
I JUST got on for Christmas! DANG!!!

Hi Jentry- I’d be interested in either of your juicers if you’d like to get rid of them. I’d love to have one but they are normally so $$$ they’ve not been in my budget range.

Gee I sure could use a fancy juicer. ๐ No, seriously. It makes SUCH a difference if you’re going to juice. We have a $20 one and I have to cut up everything tiny tiny to get it to fit. We juiced for a few weeks, but because of the crappy juicer, it was more frustrating but the juice we drank was delish. Yes, take the advice of the first commenter and watch Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. It is all about juicing, the benefits, etc. It will change your life!

Fresh is best! First few days are the worst and you will be brutally cranky but it passes!
Helpful Movies:
Food Matters
Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead
Netflix will recommend other good movies to watch from there. I also know where you can get fresh, delivered to your door, wheatgrass here in Houston.

Do tell on the Wheat Grass!

My husband and I have tried juicing and have seen both documentaries Food Matters and Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. We bought an Omega juicer and love it. We can always tell the difference in our bodies when we have juiced and days that we don’t.
The book called, “The Big Book of Juices” by Natalie Savona has about 400 recipes. There are some really great recipes for juicing and even includes some recipes for smoothies. It also lists the vitamins and minerals for each fruit and vegatable in the book. In addition, it has a five star rating based on different levels of benefits for engery, detoxing, immunity, digestion, and skin. There’s also a section at the end of the book with 7 days worth of detoxifying juice recipes.

I haven’t had great experiences with juicing because it takes the fiber out (unless you stir the pulp back in–yuck), and spikes my blood sugar if only fruit is used. I’ve switched to making Green Monsters (Google it) in my Vitamix, however, and they’ve changed my life!!! I can drink five servings of vegetables (and minimal fruit), my blood sugar is stable and my energy levels are through the roof! I’m also at my goal weight as they’re very filling. Even my kids love them!

The Lemonade Cleanse is the best! The fresh lemons alkalize your body, the grade B maple syrup gives you nutrients that you need and the pepper clears out mucous. If you’ve never done it, it’s worth doing, even for just a few days.

My fav is one I picked up on in Atlanta on a business trip. I believe they have ordering service so it can be shipped. Arden’s garden two day detox. Everyone raved about, they have several options but I did the two day and it dramatically made a difference!

Luv the footie PJ’s! Got a pair for Christmas, myself! I don’t know anything about a fast or cleanse. I’m still studying up on GMO’s!!!

http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/ (Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead) is a good video to start with. There is also another site http://rabbitfoodformybunnyteeth.com/?s=juicing. She’s become popular and has some juicing recipes. Good luck. When I follow this guy, Dr. Hyden who wrote “UltraMetabolism” I feel good because I’m not retaining water and feeling terrible. It’s more general eating though. It takes commitment though and DEFINITELY gives results. I knew someone borderline diabetic (based on 3 mo lab test HGA1C) who was able to completely transition AWAY by using this.

Love the p.j’s. Just wanted to share the opposite perspective on the subject. No intention of being rude or negative here. I am not a fan of juice cleanses. They are terrible on your body. Cleansing your body is a good concept, but giving your body only juice and fruit (terribly high in sugar, for one thing) is not good for it. Our bodies aren’t meant to function on juice and fruit alone, and there are many other needed nutrients. The shock to your body from a juice cleanse has been documented and written about in numerous articles, and I am a HUGE fan of researching all things health. In a week’s time, your body might not show the shock and damage, but it is there. Our bodies are designed need and function on fiber, protein, the many nutrients in vegetables and even on a healthy amount of monounsaturated fats. Depriving yourself of these things actually does more harm than good. Before doing a juice cleanse, I recommend that anyone research this negative side of this type of cleanse. You can cleanse your body from all of the junk just the same with a much healthier cleanse including healthy protein and fiber. Or, you can just enjoy the junk in moderation and get back to a normal healthy diet the next day, with no negative side affects, and no cleansing needed!

Can you please ask your husband where he got those pjs??? My mom is in love with Cookie Monster and I need to buy those for her! I’ve looked all over online and I can’t find them. Thanks!
Tiffany says
LOL! I know he got them at Walmart, because that was the only store in the town where we were staying! I think they were on clearance as well! I would be more than happy to send her mine ๐

Just curious, if you ended up doing a cleanse, and if so, which one? I am trying to research one!
