Alright this has to be the beginning sign of the holiday shopping season, when we start to see the layaway signs it means it’s time to start planning right?
Well for those that like to plan out and take advantage of the Walmart Layaway Program it WILL be back again this year in 2017! Woohooo!
The layaway program hasn’t changed much from previous years but here is what you need to know:
- 2017 Layaway Season will be from September 1st – December 11th
- Minimum layaway for an item is $10 (so items must be $10 or more) but you must have an entire purchase of $50 minimum to qualify for layaway
- Make payments anytime on your layaway at any register in the store and check with your store about sending you reminder emails about payments
- There is no opening fee required for a layaway. All you need to do is make a small down payment of $10, or 10% on a single item, whichever is greater.
- A layaway can be cancelled and down payments and other payments will be refunded minus a $10 cancellation fee (cancellation fees do not apply in Ohio, Maryland, Rhode Island or District of Columbia).
- Layaway is not available on Thanksgiving day or Thanksgiving night.
- Not available for online purchases
And here are the departments you can have items on layaway from:
- Electronics (without service plans)
- Toys
- Infant furniture
- Small appliances
- Large furniture
- Auto electronics
- Select sporting goods
- Jewelry

When you are buying for multiple children 10 dollar items are not always available. This is ridiculous. I would think if a 50 dollar minimum is the rule, then why does it matter how you get there.

Ask for a manager override! My local Walmart did an override on all the toys that were less than 10$ because my layaway amount was more than 50$.

I think it is ridiculous that you do not allow clothing to be put on layaway. Kids always need new clothes, especially young children that outgrow things every few months to a year. I know plenty of adults that also need to replace or want new things. I personally do not have $200+ to buy new clothes for my kids, myself and my husband

I agree about the clothes. Everyone needs to do what I did, call Walmart Headquarters in Arkansas and complain. If enough people call in they will have to take .notice and maybe change the policy. I was told complaining at store level will not help. Aim for higher ground and let them know how you feel. Iqqf you want to talk to the head man at store level ask for the Marketing Manager, he is over the whole store, this was told to me when I called. Good luck!

Oh I know what you mean, was hoping clothes was an option. I don’t have kids so toys, and kid furniture is useless to me. Only thing I would layaway is maybe kitchen appliances but I’ll just wait for black friday sales I guess. Throughout all of my school age years and then some….My Mother would shop early and catch sales and out my school clothes and shoes on lay away. Just beforemschool we would make the final payment. It was a win – win for her because she could oay gradually and also wouldnt have to keep arguing with me because I wanted to start wearing my new clothes long before school started!! Anyway….Walmart must have just got a new shipment of boots and booties in and tonight I went nuts!! Now us woman know….that if you try on 10 items….you’ll be lucky if 2 of them look and fit like you want!! And that USUALLY happens to me when i have shown up financially prepared to buy all 10. But of coarse tonight I was not…..and out of about 13 pair of shoes I tried on….I LOVED ALL 13!! So I was going to put them on lay away because they NEVER have too many of my size on hand and they go fast. Much to my surprise and disappointment they would not put them on lay away. I would have never even got that carried away picking them all out if I had known I was going to end uo looking like an idiot and have to put them all back. The worst part was trying to figure out which ones I liked best and could afford now and which ones to sacrifice and put back!! I am so BUMMED out. What reason could they possibly have for turning down a $200 sale like that?? It makes no sense to me!!! I took pictures of all of them with the tags in case when I go back for some and they dont have them…I can hopefully order them. WISH ME LUCK! !
Burlington and Marshalls have layaway and the quality of clothes is better. Just use Walmart for big ticket item toys.

If they dont want to adjust it just cancel ur layaway and buy it with the money they give you back. At the very least you will save $20

No. You can get a one time price adjustment within a few days- i believe its 5 or 7 days on up to 3 items. However it wont work for Black Friday sales as the items are different UPC numbers than what we sell regularly.

The stuff on black friday is diffrent then the stuff in the store they are marked diffrently and shipped to the store its a diffrent stock than the store has so you will have to buy it again

Perfect for fall/spring weather. Color is true to what’s shown. I’ve washed this blanket several times & had no issues with it in washer/dryer. It’s still as soft as it was when I first got it. I’ve always had hives growing up, so I have to buy everything hypoallergenic & wash my things constantly. This blanket hasn’t caused any breakouts! I’ve even gone as far as two weeks without washing my comforter (which for me is a huge deal). 10/10 would purchase again & recommend you do so too!
