It’s only 10:54am, and this is how my day is going, illustrated in numbers:
**Update at 11:34am** 6 – The NEW number of kids that have chicken pox!
5 – The number of kids that have come down with chicken pox in the past 24 hours.
4 – The number of kids in my house that have not come down with chicken pox…. yet. I have my 2 nieces visiting, one has chicken pox along with my kids.
3 – The number of kids who stood outside my door while I was trying to take a shower and banged on it saying things like, “can I have yogurt?” and “Tucker took my blankie AWAY!!” and “MOOOOMMMM the phone is for you!”
2 – The number of boxes of cereal they ate for breakfast.
1 – The number of window panes that my son just broke in my play room with an out of control basketball.

My goodness, I thought my days were crazy. I completely agree w/what Therese said, “God only gives you what you can handle”. When he gives you situations like this, it can only make you stronger! I’ll say a special prayer for your family.

WOW! I just can’t imagine! I want to cry when 2 of my 5 are sick at the same time! Do they not make you get the chicken pox vaccine? I wasn’t going to but them our Dr. said they wouldn’t let them in kindergarten without it! (Not sure if this is just an Il law?) So they each got it when they were little, I didn’t really want them to, however now with 5, I can’t even imagine how you are coping! Positive, at least they have some new toys to entertain themselves with? Hopefully! ;o) One day you WILL laugh at this!
Tiffany says
In each state you have the option of an exemption. They will let them in Kinder without it, you just need the exemption. We have one due to our children having seizures with previous vaccines.
We are doing great! Just watching a lot of T.V.! And going through gallons of calamine!
andrea says
And just remember, if they have to get chicken pox, far better that they get it as children than as adults. My kids all had the vaccine (OH law requires it for school) and my oldest daughter still got the disease, though it was mild.
Tiffany says
I was waiting for them to get it. That is why we didn’t get them vaccinated for it, but decided that if they had not had it by the time they were 15 we would get them the vaccine. They picked it up from someone who had just had the vaccine. I knew we would go through this, and it really did happen at a perfect time, I am home from work and they are home from school!
Just FYI – Texas “requires” it as does every other state, but we choose to exempt them from it, just like you can if it is what you decide is best for your family. Just google what you need to do for a vaccine exemption for your state. I do not recommend either way for anyones family, just want people to know that you have a choice regardless of what your school or Dr. might tell you.
Natalie says
Been there…done that! Except three of my four children spread them out over three weeks. I’d much rather get them over with all at once. My fourth child wasn’t born during that time…so where DO you live? God bless you with patience!
Tiffany says
THats what I was afraid would happen, one at a time! I live in a suburb north of Houston TX.
Natalie says
You are, unfortunately, too far from me…SHOOT! Guess my little man will have to get it from somewhere else. By the way, we are combating a flu-like disease with THREE of my four right now. NOT FUN! Healthy prayers to you and your clan.
Kim says
I have to back up Tiffany she is right You can be exempt from it. I am in CA. I did with with my first kid but the other 5 I had vaccinated. I repeat what tiffany said, Dont let school or dr. tell you otherwise you do have a choice.
