Help a Child Thrive: Donate a Backpack for Back to School at Walmart #SimpleServeSave

It’s estimated that teachers across the nation spent 1.6 billion out of their own pockets in 2013 to supply the needs of children in their classroom. It has been shown in studies that children that are properly equipped for school get better grades, have better attendance, and higher graduation rates.

Do you want to help a local child go back to school this year, but don’t have the time shop for a list of items?

Champions for Kids, Elmer’s, and other sponsors have teamed up to make it easy for you to do at Walmart! All you have to do is find the display in one of the 2300 participating stores like I did, then purchase the backpack and drop it in the donation box.

When you are there or when you get home, share your donation on social media with #SimpleServeSave included and for every 5 social media shares Savings.com will donate another backpack to the drive. This is a great time to grab 4 of your friends that want to help and make a difference in 6 children’s lives in a simple act.

How you can do more:

Join the Let’s Bond campaign! Share more simple service projects with Champions for Kids and your school has a chance at receiving cash! There’s over $40,000 in prizes to be awarded. Once you share your story, they select finalists. The finalists are then shared online to be voted on by you. If you become a finalist, rally your school to vote and win!
