I don't have any kids yet, our first is on his way in Dec. But, I can TOTALLY remember when I was that age and how I was exactly like him. LOL. My Mom and Grandma used to always say to me like "lighten up" or "you should smile more, your so pretty when you smile", and those comments would throw me over the edge. I still remember it to this day. It's just teenage angst, he will get over it but it might be quite awhile. Your trying to figure out who the heck you are, dealing with all these new hormones, family isn't as fun as your friends are, and since it was a family birthday party that he was required to partake in instead of say talking to his friends or playing video games, he is gonna sulk. It will get better Mom, just hang in there.

At my house 14 is even worse. grumpy butts boys and girls! <br />For 10 years now (my oldest is 24) I have said "Teenagers are the Lord's way of making it easier to say goodbye.." when they grow up of course.

My mother had 3 girls and 2 boys. She swears boys are easier, but they go through two rounds where you just want to send them away. My older son is 14 and he is pretty reasonable. He only gets cranky once or twice a week. My younger son will be 11 tomorrow and he has the best attitude. I just hope it lasts. We had a house full of boys yesterday and I noticed the 13 and 14 yr old boys were all moody.

I don't know, but good luck! When you've figured it out, let me know because I have a six year old going on 12...and trust me...military school is looking pretty sweet right now! :)

I also have 6 children from 28 to 9. The first time my mother asked me about my new teenage son's attitude and then tears, I explained to her it was PMS. (I already had two teenage daughters) She was astounded! He can't have PMS. I said, he certainly does. He has Pre Man Syndrome. Hormones do strange things even to boys! The youngest of our three boys is now 16. My best advice for anyone with teenage kids is to enjoy every great moment you have with them so that when these times comes you know there will again be good times ahead! Good luck!
